It's creamy, it's flavourful and it's easy to make. Our cream of broccoli soup hits the spot on a cold night. Add crusty bread for a perfect comfort meal.

Another Sunday mish-mash: Luisa's baked beans for me (delicious!), black beans with cilantro and onions for Brandon, half an avocado, the last of the broccoli soup I've been testing, some Columbia City Bakery ciabatta from the freezer, and some hot sauce Brandon made with arbol chiles and pumpkin seeds.

Today was a full day of running errands and helping a friend in need. My friend just got back from training with one of the branches of the military and needed a ride to get things done. Not really sure what it was... but I helped him out. He repaid me by putting gas in my tank and buying me some food from Panera Bread.

I raided the cafe before leaving on Thursday for a dinner for Adam and I. We had potato salad for an appetizer, cream of broccoli soup to start, a chicken sandwich with fresh mozzarella and spinach, cookies for dessert and Dr. Pepper to wash it all down. It was an awesome day on the beach. Afterward we read our books until it got too chilly to be out anymore. We both agree we need to do stuff like this more often!! Especially since we're pretty close to the beach.
A simple picture, which involved a lot of work. An inverted plate is kept in the soup bowl and the broccoli, pasta, chicken and carrots were placed on this sunken plate, the soup was then poured, a hole was drilled in the shank of the soup spoon, a block of wood of the correct height was found and the spoon screwed into the wood, it kept falling in the soup so the wood was clamped with a heavy C clamp then the picture was taken Whew!
We baked the most delicious bread, and it tasted, smelt and looked pretty awesome. The bread was walnut and stilton soda bread (yum!) and we also made broccoli and stilton soup to go with it. Definitely making the bread again (the soup was a bit of an effort because we made our own stock and everything! But I'm sure if we'd spaced it out a bit or had some stock frozen, the soup would be easy enough to do again, too) because it was ace (and made 2 loaves!).
The meal in all it's glory! So good.

It was supposed to be a big weekend, this one, but it went wrong. I got really poorly!
I managed to get out for a couple of hours with Gemma on Friday night but for me, the Saturday night was a washout.
We had organised for several friends to come from out of town to an 80s night. I was gutted to miss it!
Wholesome food for a poorly girl. Broccoli soup - yummy!
Cream of Broccoli Soup from Simple Recipes for Joy. Tastes okay, but my intestines aren't really digging it.

Make thick or less thick. Either way you make it, this soup is excellent for a rainy, or snowy day, or just to lift up your spirit.
