The one thing I distinctly remember when we brought Raven home all those years ago, at just the same age we got Pearl, was the first time I threw a toy across the room, she quickly zoomed over to it, picked it up and happily trotted right back and dropped it at my feet.
Pearl demonstrated the exact same behavior, right from the very first toy toss!
This morning we went for a nice long walk. She is starting to get the hang of walking on a leash, and if you drop the leash and let her go on her own, she'll wander off just a little, but is quick to be right back by my feet if I start to move away.
After our walk we had a fun game of fetch the stick, which lasted for about 10 minutes until she collapsed at my feet and rested her head on my foot.....a sure indication that she had worn herself out and the game, at least for the time being, was over!
We came in and had a nice big breakfast, and then it was time to take a nice long nap.
LOL.....I was glad to get a shot of her NOT on the couch!
OK now. Does it get any better than a giant, smiling chicken with a gold tooth? I think not!
I need to get back to this place when it's more overcast so that the chicken doesn't have a big shadow across it.
This building is now in a big parking lot for a Mexican supermarket, kinda off to the side a bit. The sign, (that wonderful sign!), is obscured by trees.
Someone told me the satellite / sputnik neon ball at the top used to spin, and that underneath that chicken with a gold tooth is still the original sign!
I really hope someone restores this place, as it's much more of a wreck now than when I took these photos a while back.
I love the way the old roadside buildings leaned up to meet you, trying to look larger than they were from the street.

this is something I worked up using Kevin Morgan's concept art for a potential new Trans Am based on the new Camaro architecture. That's my '77 in the lower left. I used a picture I found of a guy wearing a t-shirt with the bird on it, just retinted it, and a Route 66 picture I took in New Mexico.
