Read about my trials and tribulations photographing this and the ruined West Pier in my blog...as always, not very serious and hopefully interesting...

Taken from Brighton Pier on Saturday 20th September, the last and probably nicest day of summer...

An evening stroll along the pier. HFF!

Flying visit to Brighton (Excuse the pun!) Arrived at the same time as dusk. Any further shots of seagulls from this visit are likely to be silhouettes.....

Thanks for visiting.....

All the best.

I waited for the full moon to start rising above the pier and then lined up the moon so it was between the flags. Unfortunately I lost my fish eye lens whilst out that night, either it fell out my camera bag or it was stolen, either way I was gutted.

The Seagull was definitely on the lookout for chips!!!!.

The pier at Brighton photographed after sunset. It is often worth staying once the sun has dipped below the horizon as the colours become more intense.

Can't believe I haven't been on Flickr for ages. I've been still taking loads of photos just not posting or checking anything here. Loads of catching up to do... Here is one from earlier in the year. Will never forget this morning. I was freezing the whole day, was one of the coldest days we had this year

I took a few photos of the crescent moon with the person standing near the Pier with the West Pier in the distance. Unfortunately the lights on the sign weren't working properly, only the Brighton part was lighting up and not the Pier part of the sign. I preferred this version with the lovely blue tones and the Brighton Pier sign silhouetted rather than lit up.

I'm excited at the thought of being able to witness the wonderful organised chaos of the starling murmurations in Brighton again soon and have been looking back through some images I took one magical evening in February this year. I have so many I didn't post, but I thought I'd share one more. Hopefully it won't be long before I have new ones. :)

I'm away on holiday from tomorrow for 10 days, so will be off Flickr for a while. Have a happy week, everyone.

The Brighton Marine Palace and Pier is a pleasure pier in Brighton, England, which opened in 1899. It is generally known as the Palace Pier for short but has been informally renamed Brighton Pier

Seen lots of pictures of this pier but never managed to go to Brighton. New Years Eve Caroline and myself went down. It wasn't really a day for photography and this was a grab shot. We had a great time eating fish and chips and walking along the new pier in the cold wind.

Just a simple tourist type Landscape/Seascape snap taken at Brighton Sussex UK of the Brighton/Palace Pier. Thought I'd mess about with the PP a bit with this one to give it a higher contrast gritty effect.

This image was an important one to me personally in my development as a photographer. I took it around 18 months ago on the pier in Brighton, shooting through a glass partition towards the old derelict west pier. I was waiting for people to cross in front of the glass and shooting them as they walked past. Why it was important to me was because I entered this in an open Street Photography competition at my camera club where I'd only joined 6 months previous. While it didn't win the competition it was the first time I'd entered an Open competition at the club (where all members compete in the same pool instead of the usual separation of 'A' (better) and 'B' (novice/intermediate) groups) and frankly I was just hoping the judge wouldn't slaughter it. In fact the judge liked it a lot and gave it a commendation. I gained a lot of confidence with that and I took away from that that my 'eye' was good enough to compete with much more experienced photographers.

In case you're wondering the buildings and cliffs you see at the top of the glass are actually reflections of the waterfront behind me.

This is part of the walkway on The Palace Pier in Brighton. The sea is about 8 to 10 meters under these boards. The sun was out and painted the sea a very bright green under the pier.

I noticed the seagull on the top of the clock on the top of the pier, he was sitting in between the two rows of lights looking out to sea. It was nice to take a walk along the promenade as I haven't been able to get out with my camera much lately.

Discovered this in my archives and can't believe it has been buried all this time, just did a little clarity. My favorite part is the sky reflecting off the windows of the closest gazebo!
