Taken for Our Daily Challenge: Bright!, the Topic for Sunday, 15 April 2012.
Added to Monthly Scavenger Hunt (MSH) November 2012 18. Sparkling
red-winged fairywren (Malurus elegans), breeding male
Its blue plumage is highly iridescent due to the flattened and twisted surface of the barbules and it reflects ultraviolet light strongly, making it brightly lit to its female counterparts.
Like a little lantern, it so wants to shine brightly for us.
Ranunculus, the stems are extremely delicate and do tend to just collapse before the bud can open into a gorgeous voluptuous bloom...
With love to you and thank you , M, (* _ *)

Freezing cold, but sunny afternoon. This Daisy seemed to to have enjoyed it. Captured with Tair 11A lens.
Here's yet another shot from our garden a couple years ago. Isn't this red coneflower bright and beautiful?! I just love it! Reds are so difficult to photograph too. This one didn't turn out too badly. Hope you all enjoy!

This bright flower - Alstroemeria - captured at Trench Hill Gardens perfectly illustrates my present mood :-).
It seems this flower is symbolic for a long-lasting friendship.

A Union Pacific Centennial leads a hot eastbound intermodal train through Weber Canyon at Peterson, Utah.
Glowing in the background are the snowy peaks of 9,579 ft. Mount Ogden of the Wasatch Range. The Harrop family home was nearby.

Maple leaves in the Seattle Japanese Garden, gradually turning red at the tips. Autumn is arriving slowly and late.
I've posted a few birds in a row now, so thought I'd throw a lovely flower into the mix. Captured a couple years ago from the Mother's Day bouquet that I gave my sweetheart on her special day.
Just as flowers capture our eyes and senses, so has my wife of 42 years captured my heart and soul and love. She is even more beautiful than this fragrant rose!

Bright and breezy. The only way to descibe this evening as I wait for more subdued lighting I decided to take a long exposured close up of the star of tonight show.
Today was just a stressful day for me; sometimes things just all fall in on you like a weight. I went out back and sat on the deck for a while, even in the heat with the mosquitoes, but glad that I looked up! The clouds and lighting were so neat. :)
HFF & Happy weekend, my friends!! :)))

Once there were four men. A thinker, a feeler, a dreamer and an explorer. Together they went into a forest.
I thought it made a good starting idea for a story. Perhaps, another day! I'm just not in the mood at the moment!
I so loved Richard Adams' book, Watership Down, not so much the animated movie of the same name, but I absolutely loved Art Garfunkel's song from the movie. Here then is my salute to Bright Eyes and all the rabbits of Watership Down in their quest for happiness.
For those who don't know the song, and those who want to remember, here's a link to Art Garfunkel's s Bright Eyes: www.youtube.com/watch?v=a502RejLz8s
