In early june of 2022, we had mornings so cool that on this occasion, I could see this stag's breath!

I was looking for a breath of a life

For a little touch of heavenly light

But all the choirs in my head sang, no, oh oh oh

To get a dream of life again

A little vision of the start and the end

But all the choirs in my head sang, no, oh oh oh ♪

The Cincinnati Zoo has a new exhibit, Hippos. This is my first image. Since everyone wants to see this new exhibit, the Zoo has employed a system for visitors to visit at a scheduled time for about 15 minutes. This is great for allowing all to see. However not so great for Photography, as anyone who photographs animals knows, 15 minutes is nothing, unless you get LUCKY. I am not complaining, just saying, I hope for better images in the future!

I titled this, "Taking a Breath".

Just listening to Mother Nature's breath through today's icy trees.

"We all need a lifeline

Someone to call when we're alone, hmm, yeah

It's all good in the good times

But I'll still be there when it all goes wrong

Yes, I will"

Look closely and you can see it’s breath from the cold morning.

Softly falls the winter’s breath,

Whispering peace in silent death.

A lone bird sings its gentle tune,

Beneath the silver, glowing moon.

In this cold, a warmth is found,

In snow’s embrace, spirits unbound.

Let the calm of winter fill your heart with peace. For even in the coldest seasons, beauty and renewal are quietly waiting. ❤️

Sous les verts feuillages,

La mésange douce se pose,

Souffle de tendresse.

Under green foliage,

The gentle titmouse lands,

Breath of tenderness.

I read this somewhere and I liked it...

Harry, thank you so much love, for your help and encouragement xx

At first glance you may think this is a dreamy looking landscape and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Actually this is breath taking thick smoke from a prescribed burn of hundreds of acres of flatwoods. The burn was set the day before this image was taken and we were amazed at how thick the smoke was after an all night smolder and there were still hotspots of fire in some areas. It was near impossible to take a breath without coughing having a window opened so I shot through the windshield.

These controlled burns alter the landscape by removing invasive plants and renewing the land giving native plants a better chance to regrow and reclaim their turf and in turn giving wildlife fresh sources of food and shelter. It doesn’t take long in this climate for the remnants of the fire to disappear with exceptions of scorched tree trunks where flames ran up to grab dead leaves and limbs. It’s a necessary way to preserve the land for long term rather than letting nature take its course with a lightening strike or carelessly left campfire that can burn out of control and devastate the land like the wildfires that are burning in Canada and past fires in California.

Kinda says it all! I took this shot a couple of weeks ago but the weather the last couple of days has been just like this. Today there was no sunshine to warm our already cold hands and feet! This is where I walk the dogs nearly every day, This couple appeared to be without a four legged friend.

Last year we made a trip to Scotland and London during the Easter holidays. We left London and took the amazing Caledonian Sleeper train and arrived to Edinburgh in a cold frosty morning (first photo in the comments). We are not used to that kind of weather. At noon we picked up a camper van to made a road trip to the Highlands. Our first stop was the amazing Cairngorms National Park. Really Really cold. We took a walk to the nearby Loch Morlich and we were witnessing a perfect dusk. The colors in the sky were amazing. You can see it in the second photo in the comments below. We had dinner in the camper van and we went to bed. At one moment during the night the heater went off due a lack of heating gas, and we were freezing. We woke up early and then, through the windscreen we were seeing the snow coming down. It was quite a moment. Kids were running in the Park, playing with other kids, and took another walk to the Lake, this time with a totally different view. No more colors in the sky or trees. For us an unforgettable moment.

It will be the guide through the cold drops that run down the cheek, a dream made of feelings...

It will give that breath when all that lives is rooted, deep, and unknown.

Humbly it asks permission before leaving its flight, and the thirst of the lips springs forth, trembling flesh for a vivid breath... a heartbeat in time and a whisper... dreamers..we are lost.
