As train SAHW returned to daylight approaching me, I was so happy to get this shot it almost felt surreal. For many years, I'd desired photographing a train at Peterson (Unionville, if you prefer) tunnel on the INRD, but could never figure out how to go about it. It's two miles north of the nearest grade crossing, and 6 miles south from another. I secured permission from an adjacent landowner and began my hike. Seeing a pair of SD40's lead the train was a great surprise and made me forget all about the many thorns I got stuck with and horse manure i stepped in to get in and out.
The tunnel was bored by the Illinois Central's Indianapolis Southern around 1909 and is 500 feet in length.
The freezing fog finally departs in the early afternoon as the sun finally makes a break through. Five exposure HDR processed with Nik HDR Efex Pro 2
When love breaks up
When the dawn light wakes up
A new life is born
Somehow I have to make this final breakthru ... Now!
I wake up
Feel just fine,
Your face
Fills my mind
I get religion quick
'Cos you're looking divine
Honey you're touching something, you're touchin' me,
I'm under your thumb, under you're spell, can't you see,
If I could only reach you,
If I could make you smile,
If I could only reach you,
That would really be a breakthru - oh yeah.
Breakthru, these barriers of pain,
Breakthru, to the sunshine from the rain,
Make my feelings known towards you
Turn my heart inside and out for you now
Somehow,
I have to make this final breakthru.
Now I
Your smile,
Speaks books to me,
I break up,
With each and every one of your looks at me,
Honey you're starting something deep inside of me,
Honey you're sparking something, this fire in me,
I'm outta control, I wanna rush headlong into this ecstasy
If I could only reach you
If I could make you smile
If I could only reach you
That would really be a breakthru
If I could only reach you
If I could make you smile,
If I could only reach you
That would really be a breakthru
Breakthru, breakthru

Ah Mother Ocean welcomes us when we finally achieve the only public allowed area --- sandwiched between Vandenberg Space Force Base and the private Hollister Ranch (think rich dudes) it's a little area set aside for us little folks....
Looking at Tranquillan Mtn, housing a space tracking base that is often fogged in. At 2,060 feet it ranks #639 in California, but you won't be hiking up it sitting on VSFB......
Great tit enjoying the fruits of the new garden feeder.
Keep safe everyone.

A curious evening, the 7th,
one half as clear as anything you've ever seen
the other?
jagged, ruffled, sinister and foreboding
except...for a brief glimmer
that which was distributed
evenly among us sun-starved souls
this ration of light will last the summer
I fear
but at least, each beam will be treasured dearly.

Jihaa...I was doing my morning walk today, when I noticed that fog has risen from Vantaa river..I managed to catch some nice rays of light from there..Enjoy :)
This is my Agfa Flexilette from 1960-1961. The camera is an absolutely mechanical TLR from the time that SLRs started its breakthru. The camera is fitted with a waist level finder (with a lupe) and the decent f2.8 Apotar. It has the Prontor shutter with speeds from 1/500 to 1 sec + B and a flash connection. The shutter seems to work accurate at all speeds. A bit stiff focusing, but that is common in Agfa cameras of a certain age.
I have DIY-fitted a Ø46mm orange filter frontside-in (or backside-out) with adhesive tape, but a Ø52mm filter size frontside-in will fit on the outside of the flange too. But it still needs to be somewhat fixed to the camera with adhesive tape or whatever to prevent it from falling out of the lens.

Three frames raw developed in DxO PhotoLab6, stacked and blended in ON1 PhotoRaw 2023.5, colour graded in Nik6 Color Efex. tweaked in Topaz AI and finished off back in PhotoLab.
One from a recent sunrise shoot with the family at Hopton on Sea, Norfolk. The colours that morning were truly incredible. I have shot this composition as a 2 min eposure to smooth the water out but love the detail in the waves on this shorter exposure and how the light is catching the textures.

Photo Details: Unlike many of my photos, this was not tonemapped with Photomatix. This is just processed from the RAW file in Lightroom.

“So what brings you in today, Wallace? Surely it’s not about your chemistry test.”
I looked at Mr. Desmond, not really sure what to say. Barry’s sidelined me since the Tarpit attack last week. We were gonna continue training, but he said I should wait it out until he gets this settled. It’s ‘too dangerous’.
“No it’s not about that. I’m happy with my grade. I just...I don’t know.”
”What’s wrong, kid?” he asks, eyebrow raised. I sigh, not really sure how to start.
“I’ve just been having to deal with stuff lately. Things... happened. I really can’t explain how, but it’s changed a lot of my life right now.”
”How so? There’s not trouble at home, is there?”
“Oh no no, nothing like that. Everything’s fine. I think I just miss my folks. They’re still out in Blue Valley, I’m living up here with my aunt for school. I guess there’s just a lot of change going on and it might be just too much.”
Desmond nods, thinking. I can see the gears turning in his head. Maybe this was a mistake.
”I get that. My family moved from Dublin to here when I was 10, and it was a rough transition. What helped me was an outlet. Drawing, listening to music. Things like that help. You have anything like that?”
“Yeah kinda. I like to write, my aunt Iris helps me with that. Oh and her boyfriend, Barry. He’s a CSI for CCPD. He’ll let me look at stuff from some of his investigations, have me see if I can put the pieces together and solve it myself. I like it.”
”Ahh, the inquisitive type. No wonder you’re doing so well in this class, haha. Seems like this Barry is a good role model.”
“When he tries to be,” I say and laugh a little. Desmond chuckles back. “Thanks Mr. Desmond. I feel a little better now. Just getting it off my chest.”
”Of course, Wallace. I’m always here if you need to talk. You’re doing great and I see a lot of bright spots in your future. Just keep it up.”
I nod to him and leave. Man, I really do feel better. Not sure what it was but it helped. My phone vibrates. Barry texted me. ‘Breakthru in Tarpit case, meet me in 2 at Broome’s’.
“Two minutes, huh? You’re on, old man.”
I look around quickly, making sure nobody is around, before I focus on pure lightning and air. It helps. Before I know it, I feel an energy go all throughout my body. ’I love this’, I think to myself as I blast out of the school faster than you could blink.
