IRVINE, CA: Flames can be seen burning across the hills behind the Irvine skyline. Over 70,000 homes are mandated to evacuate by the first evening since Silverado Fire began on 10/26 before 7am when the fire was first reported. Strong winds up to 60mph is projected to continue until tomorrow. With over 7,200 acres already burned, firefighters battle the Blue Ridge Fire just miles north in Corona and Yorba Linda.

Earth's moon is the brightest object in our night sky. It appears quite large, but that is only because it is the closest celestial body. The moon is a bit more than one-fourth (27 percent) the size of Earth, a much smaller ratio (1:4) than any other planets and their moons. Earth's moon is the fifth largest moon in the solar system.
The moon's mean radius is 1,079.6 miles (1,737.5 kilometers). Double those figures to get its diameter: 2,159.2 miles (3,475 km), less than a third the width of Earth. The moon's equatorial circumference is 6,783.5 miles (10,917 km).
"If Earth were the size of a nickel, the moon would be about as big as a coffee bean," according to NASA.
The moon's surface area is about 14.6 million square miles (38 million square kilometers), which is less than the total surface area of the continent of Asia (17.2 million square miles or 44.5 million square km).
There are moments in chasing that I truly can't believe that I captured. This was one of those moments. I remember growing up, seeing images as dramatic as these but never could I imagine I'd have a staple like that one day.
I captured this dramatic image of the debris raining down on me from the Lincoln, Nebraska tornado as it approached i80. My position to the storm and the sunlight illuminated the tall tornado a ghostly white, while it chucked chunks of red earth into the cloud base from the shear violence of the winds. This same moment was captured via my GoPro mounted to the roof of my car. I was going to upload a full length video with this included. But, this moment I really feel warrants its own spotlight. The Prime Minister is said to have ordered Defence Ministry officials to prepare to declare a state of emergency to deal with the PAD protesters, who he claims is closing off the country.
Reports have come in that Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat, who doubles as Defence Minister, has asked officials to prepare to invoke the Internal Security Decree during today's Cabinet meeting to deal with the PAD protest, which he claims is closing off the country and causing damages.
Somchai is said to be arriving in Thailand at 7 pm today and will land at Chiang Mai Airport, as the PAD has taken control of Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, before boarding an Army flight to come into Bangkok. Then, he will preside over this special Cabinet meeting to announce a state of emergency.
Army Commander-in-chief General Anupong Paochinda has been following the situation closely and keeping in contact with all the Armed Forces leaders. He has appointed Army Chief-of-staff General Prayuth Chan-ocha and First Area Army Commander Lieutenant General Kanit Sapitak to map out plans if the situation escalates.
Government Spokesman Nutthawut Saigua has said the Prime Minister has ordered both the military and the police to take control of security at Suvarnabhumi Airport, as requested by the airport's director.

I'm genuinely tired of these highly paid commentators constantly berating the millions of people who simply want nothing more than returning to work in order to feed their families and pay for expenses past due.
Lately, there have been an increasing number of rallies and protests consisting of everyday people demanding freedom from the government's forced lockdowns and business closures around the country. If you watch any "mainstream" media, these protesters have been invariably portrayed as a rag-tag army of "deplorables" who aren't sufficiently intelligent to follow the lofty guidance of government experts. God forbid that some of the protesters actually fly American flags - the media narrative is ubiquitous in referring to them as dangerous far-right activists.
Guess it's difficult to relate to regular people when you're sitting in front of a camera in Midtown Manhattan and reading a script from a teleprompter while earning millions of dollars in the process.
I was hoping to post something more meaningful today of all days, but the weather prevented me from doing the shot I wanted. Instead, I'm posting this, a photo of one of my favorite subjects, taken last night during our mini-jam session at home, with a repertoire that included music by the Indigo Girls, Jason Mraz, Taylor Swift, and a rendition of Cavatina.
This classical guitar, by the way, is now 23 years old, which would explain the slight discoloration on the wood. I actually like it because it has more character that way, and is proof of all the fun we've had with it all these years.

We were about to go back since the sun was covered with big clouds. But it popped! Its been a while that I haven't catch an orange sunset! Shoot with Kuya Jude. I used my prime lens 85 mm (portriat lens) to make it bigger and then I cropped it.

8/2/18 Detectives discuss the crime scene where 40-year old off duty Sgt. Ritchard Blake shot 21 yr old Thayvone Santana in the face in front of 650 Livonia Ave. in the East New York section of Brooklyn, New York City. Blake claimed that Santana approached him on his way to work 8/2/18 around 5am and told him "Your going to die tonight", then reached for his waist to grab a gun or knife which caused Blake to fire his service weapon putting a bullet in Santana's mouth. Santana was taken to Brookdale hospital where he has undergone multiple surgeries and is expected to survive, police obtained surveillance footage of the shooting from a daycare at 650 Livonia Ave. which shows a different story. Santana is shown approaching Blake who backs up, pulls out his gun, and shoots Santana in the face. Blake is then shown planting a knife next to a wounded Santana's body before deciding against the plot and picking it back up. The crime scene investigators on scene did not find any weapons on scene which coincides with the surveillance footage. Blake has been put on modified duty pending the outcome of the investigation. Blake was on probation with the NYPD following a domestic violence incident with his girlfriend whom is the alleged reason behind the turmoil between Santana and Blake.

The media, always eager to exploit the next blockbuster "breaking news" event, hyped the Laquan McDonald video and provided the movement with a stage for Act II, allowing a small group of activists to bring this city to a halt.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel was cowed into submission, and allowed demonstrators to run amok along the Magnificent Mile throughout the Christmas shopping season, costing retailers millions in lost revenue, and the City millions more in police overtime.
Since then, the movement's trump card, its contention that the McDonald video is a "template" that can be applied to all police-involved shootings, has taken a big hit. The next video to be released, that of Ronald Johnson, clearly shows that he was armed with a gun when he was shot and killed.
What's more, the in-depth presentation by Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez revealed that Ronald Johnson had been a passenger in a car that was shot at by rival gangbangers. Ronald Johnson then pulled his own gun and told the driver to let him out so he could hunt down that shooter himself.
Instead, Mr. Johnson faced the officers who were responding to the original "shots-fired" call by citizens in the area. If he had acted like a responsible citizen and assisted the officers, instead of taking the law into his own hands, those officers would have focused their attention on the original shooter and not on him. By putting himself - gun in hand - in the area where shots had been fired by a different gangbanger, he became the individual the responding officer focused on. Refusing to drop his weapon, he was eventually shot and killed.
The ultimate irony is that the Ronald Johnson video could be put forward as a "template" for the situation Chicago Police Officers usually face: armed predators who stubbornly refuse to surrender, either because doing so would violate their gang's code of conduct, or because they're so coked out of their mind that they truly believe themselves to be invincible.
The most recently released video, consists of surveillance footage that captured the killing of Cedrick Chapman back in 2013. This video fotage is inconclusive at best, and clearly does not live up to its billing as yet another example of racist White police officers executing yet another unarmed African American young man.
In fact, this particular African American young man had just car-jacked a fellow citizen. The officers in this case - armed with the information that this offender was armed and dangerous - spotted the vehicle in question with Cedrick Chapman behind the wheel, and gave chase.
When the offender bailed out, he first threw the vehicle's transmission into reverse. That's a favorite trick used by experienced auto-thieves, forcing police officers to jump into a moving vehicle and bring it to a halt before it can injure innocent bystanders or cause more property damage.
As soon as the first officer had brought the stolen vehicle to a halt, he joined his partner in the foot-pursuit of the fleeing felon. Too far back to assist his partner, who was about to pounce on the fleeing car-jacker, the first officer noticed that the offender was holding a black object in his right hand, The first officer - "fearing for his partner's life - then fired his own weapon, striking and killing the offender.
Does that sound just a little contrived? Yes, it does, but, in the absence of reliable information that proves otherwise, the anti-police movement has little to offer but the now familiar accusations. Left with nothing but hot air, the movement simply pivots back to its ace in the hole: the Lawuan McDonald video.

This mural at 57th & Lake Park is but one panel of a large mural devoted to peace vs. militarism, free speech and civil disobedience. This particular panel references the peace movement after the slaughter of the Great War (1914-1918). It shows a woman trying to get both sides to "put the guns down..."
Unfortunately, 40 years after this mural was painted, we can not get gangbangers on the South and West Side to put their guns down, and Chicago is on track to reap 600 homicides in 2016.
