Always a Joy to watch wildlife snatch a meal out of the pond. Don’t imagine I would be so successful if it were me standing there bare-handed trying to find something to eat : )

Glossy Ibis
At distance, Glossy Ibises look uniformly dark, but a close look in good light reveals stunning colors: deep maroon, emerald, bronze, and violet. This long-legged, long-billed bird forages in flocks through wetlands and wet agricultural fields, searching for insects, small fish, and seeds.
The birds are somewhat nomadic, dispersing widely after the nesting season—a tendency that has aided the species in the past 100 years as it has expanded its range from the southeastern U.S. to include much of eastern North America.
Flocks of Glossy Ibis forage quite close together, advancing slowly as they probe a muddy area. This activity often attracts Snowy Egrets and other species of waders, which capture minnows and other prey moving away from the feeding ibis flocks.
Glossy Ibis is a cosmopolitan species, also found in Europe, Asia, and Africa. In recent decades, its population in Spain has been increasing rapidly, probably helped by increased rice cultivation there. Glossy Ibises banded in Spain have turned up as far away as Barbados, having crossed the Atlantic—a remarkable feat but one that several species of heron and egret have managed as well.
The oldest recorded Glossy Ibis was at least 21 years old and lived in Virginia between 1971 and 1992.

Leaving the eggs out of the refrigerator and I before taking the stove, had an idea to photograph. Job with ambient light, and I confess to liked the result.

This is a common weekend breakfast at our home. Poached egg on bacon avocado toast with lemon pepper. Very tasty and hard to beat.
(Full disclosure: I accidentally over-cooked this egg, normally the yoke is runny… but it was still tasty!)

In my previous post I showed the Greater spotted woodpecker seeing off Starlings at breakfast time.
Today it came as I was starting my breakfast and the woodpecker became breakfast for the Sparrowhawk!
Tried hard not to burn my toast under the grill as I dashed upstairs to get the camera and change the lens.
Taken through the patio door.
Breakfast of Champions or who gets there first, Skippy is enjoying his peanuts on a nice Spring day.

A small cafe called 'Brown Sugar' in the Block Arcade in Melbourne. One of my regular haunts when i'm in Melbourne, but this time the coffee machine wasn't working ... imagine starting the day in Melbourne without a coffee?!! Let's hope they have it fixed before I return.
While out sitting in some cattails waiting to take some photos of the birds on the lake, this female Red-Winged Blackbird landed in front of me with her insect breakfast delivery.
She kept bringing in all sorts of different insects for her babies who were well hidden in the nest.
Depending on the season, their diet changes. In winter, they'll eat mostly plant material.
During the nesting season, they switch to a more insect-rich diet and lower amounts of seeds.
The young are altricial and at 11 to 14 days old, they leave the nest but remain within the territory for two more weeks. The female feeds them, sometimes helped by the male, for as long as 3 more weeks after they have left the nest territory.

I patiently waited for momma Robin to catch worms and bring it to the nest. There was really only one opening for me to shoot. S Most times she would fly into the main opening with her back at me - occasionally she would fly into the far ide so I finally caught her feeding her chicks.
Added about an hour to my yard work!
NOTE: may be slow with comments Friday - out shooting for the day.
When my friend Michael Freethy was over on holidays from America last year we would often go for breakfast to the Sugar Mountain cafe in the beautiful village of Roundwood about 4 miles away from where I live. Within five minutes of leaving my place this is the view from the top of Ballinslaughter Hill. There are about 8 mountains that suddenly appear all along the horizon. This one is Mullaghcleevaun and it has a wonderful corrie loch on top it.

We stopped the car every time and took photos but its tricky as they dont always turn out great. This one is ok and I took it last February. I was up there during the week looking at the view as I never grow tired of it. Its isolation at its finest!
Roundwood is the highest village in Ireland at 238m above sea level. To qualify as the highest village it must have a post office and Roundwood does. A very quaint one. Mike posted some cards home from it. I wonder did they ever arrive?
Id always think to myself that we would only be about an hour in the Cafe but it never worked out like that as that place somehow just gets to you and we would end up chatting and looking out the window at the beautiful place that it is, and eating apple pie and drinking gallons of tea on top of a fry up till we were stuffed!
You cant buy that really. I wonder how many people have a view like this to look at when they are going to the cafe for breafast! Im lucky and I know it! Lets hope it all opens up again soon!
Michael hasnt climbed this mountain yet but hoperully we will when he makes it over. Fingers crossed.
And the title? Its nothing to do with Breakfast kind of, but is the rhythm that the traditional Irish Reel that is played in 4/4 time.
Anyway, I hope you like the photo as its one of my favourite views and heres the Corrs " making more noise than a bag of spanners " [Terry Wogan ] live at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin. Poor Jim Corr! Bet all the men in the audience come to see him!!!!!!! Right!!! Lol! They are all very talented and they nice normal people with it too! I think they are amazing!

Lens reflecting. My eyeglasses lying on the bench I'm sitting on. I'm fascinated by the curves and curls as they go in and out of focus.
Yesterday I was out much of the day ~ with camera ~ and took lots of pictures just for fun. Strictly speaking the pictures I'll post are not breakfast abstracts but I think that's going to be my name for images clearly abstracted from photographs, often macros like this one, and not otherwise created.
