While we were eating our Muffulettas in Jackson Square we noticed a huge crowd, so we went to see what was going on. Turns out it was some bad-ass breakdancing.

This guy was doing a headspin, I shot it in high speed mode with my Canon 40D, and rendered it at 2 frames per second... wow
So a new guy at my lab is a b-boy, and showed aus a video of him and his crew last week. "What a lot of great shots, like roller derby" I thought watching it, "but a similar background-crowd-visual noise problem. If I ever shoot this I'll have to try and get high up." Mere days later there is a battle right down the street from me, with overhangs aplenty; I nabbed this spot on the stairs and had a good half hour of people warming up on a nice spinny floor.
The light was an adventure though. What an annoying shadow that was...and what a fun two hours I just had in the new Adobe Lightroom playing with their new curve tools. None of which I applied to this shot. I liked the contrast (and am surprised the photo cliche gods didn't put a 100% African child on the left-hand side of the frame).
