A Common Snipe and a Redshank take a well earned break from their hectic search for small invertebrates and crustaceans along the coastal section of RSPB Leighton Moss. As far as I could tell, worms and small crabs topped the day's Specials Menu.
I toss out peanuts for the squirrels I guess this one thought it was gold since that was all it could find, either that or it’s break time.

Breaking the bad is an exhausting thing. Personally, like you, I try to do my best every day, but unfortunately it doesn't always work out. When the fog comes in, I can't help it and I have to get out my hardware filters again. Some people like it, others think it's stupid. I also find some things stupid. For example, Corona or a nuclear war in Europe or anywhere else in the world. If everyone did something good and prevented something bad every day, I wouldn't have to pull out my graduated filters...;) Except in winter. Although, if you're in the mood for poetry... I like it! An atomic mushroom has beautiful colours too, no doubt, but there really are more beautiful motifs than this.

I shot the background photo out the window of a plane. I had to clone out the tip of a wing and some splotches from the plane's window, but otherwise it's pretty much SOOC: no color enhancement, just a very wee bit of blur.

Note dried blood on his foot. I do not think this Light Morph Rough-legged Hawk obeyed the sign. "The name ‘Rough-legged’ Hawk refers to the feathered legs. The Rough-legged Hawk, the Ferruginous Hawk, and the Golden Eagle are the only American raptors to have legs feathered all the way to the toes." They hover "...while facing into the wind -- similar in style to the much smaller and daintier American Kestrel and White-tailed Kite. Rough-legged Hawks perch on fence posts and utility poles, as well as on the ground or in the slenderest treetops, where other large raptors rarely chance sitting." Source: allaboutbirds.org

Four days after strong winds, the waves size increased in size up to 4m in height. This is the first in a sequence of three photos of one of the large waves as it breaks.

I did not try to shoot a movie of the waves this time because the Pentax K-1 has quite a slow frame rate. If you are interested I did shoot some movie footage of waves in 2017. You can see it
