Was up all night and by now (5.40am) feeling pretty hungry. As I was going through photos to find one to upload on Flickr, this one caught my eye. And so here it is - a random shot which only increased the intensity of my hunger... lol :D

Since young, I've been exposed to the aroma of the coffee beans, the burning smell of the breadtoasts, the sweetness of the kaya, the popping of the cap off the bottled Coke/ Sarsi / Sprite / Fanta Orange, gossips of the village etc...
I've always like the life back home in Rasa. Everything's so much simpler and relaxing.
This place hold alot of my childhood memories, the good and the bad ones. Memories of my aunt walking me to school, of my losing a tooth after being slapped by my grandfather, of doing gardening for my auntie, of kicking the washing machines whenever i'm upset, of the excitment when there's a pasar malam around the corner, of the chinese opera troupe visiting the village for their regular performance, of catching earthworms, spiders, frogs, fireflies, of flying kites, of being chased by cow, dogs, of running away from home, of my aunt's cooking, of my aunt's hanging the laundry in the sun, of everything, of asking 20cents from my grandpa everyday, of my grandpa nagging and shouting, of people coming into the town with trucks to fix the broken chairs and tables,... so many memories to be listed down...
Oh boy, I'm going to miss this place when we move away.

Paan is a Sri Lankan style flat bread with a thick chewy outside and a soft fluffy inside....excellent for dunking into curries and the version served at the restaurant had curry leaves baked into the loaf.....making it exceedingly aromatic and enjoyable!
