Beetle larvae from a box of breadcrumbs. I seem to find these regularly in my cabinet, no matter how much I clean and transfer stuff into sealed containers for storage. Typically I only find the empty shells from molting and they tend to be in breadcrumbs, especially the kind that comes in cardboard containers. Apparently they're "warehouse beetles" and the larvae can stay dormant for up to two years and chew through cardboard, plastic and even aluminum foil in search of food. I may have to store my food stuffs elsewhere for a while and make my own breadcrumbs when I need them rather than buying packages.

 

This video was taken using the Canon PowerShot SX40 and the Raynox DCR-250 macro conversion lens. The bugs are about 2 mm in length.

The simplest thing to eat: string bean with breadcrumbs and butter.

Leftovers from last night's dinner party. This was part of the baked penne with eggplant dish. It has penne, eggplant, tomato sauce, toasted breadcrumbs, pecorino, and basil. Very tasty.

Olive Garden

 

- Stuffed mushrooms: parmesan, romano and mozzarella cheese, clams and herb breadcrumbs baked in mushroom caps

steaming hot straight out of the oven...................

 

Rolled Roast Lamb

1.5kg leg of lamb, boned

40g butter

2 tablespoons honey

2 cups fresh breadcrumbs

1 egg, lightly beaten

1 teaspoon crushed garlic

1 1/2 teaspoons dried rosemary

Preheat oven to 200°C. Use a sharp knife to butterfly lamb leg to open out flat.

Step 2

Melt butter and honey in a saucepan over low heat until well combined. Place breadcrumbs into a bowl. Add egg, garlic, 1 teaspoon of rosemary, half the butter mixture, and salt and pepper to breadcrumbs. Mix well with clean hands.

Step 3

Arrange stuffing down centre of lamb leg. Roll up. Tie tightly with string to secure. Brush lamb with remaining butter mixture. Sprinkle with remaining rosemary.

Step 4

Place lamb into a large, greased roasting pan. Roast for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 160°C. Roast for a further 45 minutes for medium (see hint). Remove to a board. Cover with foil. Stand for 10 minutes. Slice and serve.

40: Just cut some chicken breasts up into bite-sized pieces, breaded with panko tossed with salt and pepper and baked with olive oil. Yum!! Great with ranch and honey mustard. And of course, so much healthier than any chicken nuggets/tenders you could get at a restaurant or grocery store. I also breaded some zucchini slices, green pepper and whole portobello mushrooms and threw 'em in while I was at it.

He had some lame excuse about not wanting breadcrumbs on his desk but I don't buy it.

Baked Macaroni with a Twist from Robin Robertson's The Vegetarian Meat & Potatoes Cookbook (page 248). Surprisingly creamy for baked mac -n- cheese, with a crazy awesome topping made of breadcrumbs and cheese (cheddar Daiya).

This lasagna is made with an improvised salsa of tomatoes, onions, mangos, peaches and parsley. Buffalo is layered with a hot red-pepper sauce on the bottom; bread-crumbs on the top. Veggie interior (broccoli, carrot, cabbage, kale, yellow pepper) is stirfried with fresh garlic then layered on lasagna; mozzarella, parmesan and ricotta cheeses throughout. Very tangy, hot, and nutritious. Freezes well.

Clouds of pigeons arrived as soon as this lady appeared. When she dropped her first handful of breadcrumbs a food fight started.

An experiment. Quinoa elbow pasta, King Arthur Gluten Free Multipurpose Flour, and Chex cereal as panko-style breadcrumbs.

Nice sweet seafood flavors, which went well with the tomato and garlic.

Normal people would focus on the wood grain but instead i noticed the breadcrumb. made myself chuckle.

Between showering and makeup, I worked the final touches on the mac-n-cheese for the party tonight. (I know "mac-n-cheese" makes it sound like I'm spending my Saturday night at a church pot luck or something, but I'm not.)

Main Dish:

 

Two thin cut pork chops seasoned with ground black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, ground ginger, Chinese five spice and kosher salt. That is first deep fried in a deep pan. Then it is drained and of oil then pan fried with a sauce made up of Sriracha, onion powder, sugar, ground ginger, soy sauce and minced garlic.

 

Side dish:

 

White rice that is then pan fried, add a scrambled egg, panko breadcrumbs and some oyster sauce. Once that cooked, added some Trader Joe's sweet chili sauce and cooked some more.

 

So yep. That's my dinner tonight and it's so damn good too! :)

 

Chicken Parmesan

 

Ingredients

1 Medium or large chicken breast

Breadcrumbs

Grated cheese

1 beaten egg

 

Béchamel Sauce

40g butter

40g flour

400ml milk

1/2 teaspoon salt

ground black pepper

 

Method

 

Remove fat from chicken breast fillet. Flatten the fillet with a meat hammer until about ½ inch thick. Place the fillet in a large bowl and cover with the beaten egg then coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs. Cook the fillet in oil on a medium heat in a shallow pan or deep fat fryer for about 5-6 minutes until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and the chicken is cooked through. Place on paper towels to drain oil before transferring to a baking tray covered with foil.

 

To make the béchamel sauce melt the butter in a non stick saucepan. Sift in the flower and mix until you have a thick paste. Add the milk a little at a time then add the salt and black pepper before gentling boiling until the sauce thickens. Allow to cool. Coat the cooked chicken breast fillet with the béchamel sauce before topping with a generous amount of grated cheese. Mature cheddar and parmesan works best. Place under a grill on a medium heat until the cheese browns. Cut into small squares before serving, traditionally with chips and salad or cream cabbage.
