This wedding-dress was worn in 1854 by Svea Beata Myhrman (who lived 1819-1910). That means she was 35 when she got married in this white silk dress (and yes, it was her first marriage). Generally speaking it is not completely correct to call this dress Victorian, since it's Swedish, but this dress was on display at Nordiska Museet, Stockholm, in their "British så in i Norden" exhibition. The name is an untranslatable pun, but the theme was the British influence on Swedish and Nordic fashion, and this dress shows the popularizing from queen Victoria's wedding to get married in white even up here in the North - though black was popular too all through the 19th century.
And yes, the dress IS white, but the lighting was low and soft to protect the garment.

(Vor Jahren, als ich noch keine Puppengeschichten erfand, nähte ich für meine Puppe Petra dieses, aus meinem Brautkleid angefertigte Kleid; nach dem gleichen Schnitt, Kopfschmuck und Brautstrauß waren auch sehr ähnlich).

In der Mitte das Brautkleid der Gattin von Prinz Friso der Niederlande, der leider bereits verstorben ist.
... hing viele Jahre im Kasten, bis mir die Idee kam, daraus dieses Puppenbrautkleid zu nähen. Mein Kleid, von meiner Schulfreundin genäht, ist nun zwar kaputt, dafür erfreue ich mich regelmäßig daran, wenn meine Puppe Petra es trägt !! Die Stickerei im Vorderteil habe ich verkleinert nachgestickt. Den Kopfschmuck bastelte ich auch aus dem Original und den Brautstrauß versuchte ich so ähnlich wie möglich zu gestalten. Übrigens meine Freundin fand die Idee gut, worüber ich sehr froh war !! 😊 Nachdem wir vor dem digitalen Fotozeitalter geheiratet haben, ist das Bild des Bildes entsprechend unscharf ...

My dress, sewn by my school friend, is now broken, but I regularly enjoy it when my doll Petra wears it !! I re-stitched the embroidery in the front part downsized. I also made the headdress from the original and tried to make the bridal bouquet as similar as possible. By the way, my girlfriend liked the idea, which I was very happy about !! 😊 After we got married before the digital photo age, the picture of the picture is accordingly blurred ...

A bit of background for the photos in this set. This is another from a studio set of photos (SanSan studio in Fushun). I didn't take them as I was also being photographed with Mei. The outdoor photos were taken in a park near where Mei grew up in Fushun. Her parents used to walk to this park and walk around the lake regularly. Recently, in August, Mei, Aiden, and I walked around this lake and it brought back memories of this day.

...und es kurze Zeit später im Dezember dunkel ist, hab ich mich ein bisschen herum getrieben.
Ich sah Orte, an denen Märchen ihren Anfang nahmen und das stärkste Mädchen der Welt erfunden wurde. Ich sah ein ganz kleines bisschen Schnee und Brautkleider von echten Prinzessinnen, stolze Kirchen und eine intakte Altstadt, die es so nur einmal auf der Welt gibt.
Mein vorgezogenes Weihnachtsgeschenk fängt mit St an und hört mit olm auf.

Mein Opa ein Soldat im 2.Weltkrieg,
ließ das Bildnis meiner Oma,
eine kleine Fotgrafie,
von einem russischen Maler porträtieren.
Vermutlich war er zu diesem Zeitpunkt schon in Gefangenschaft.
Er schickte dies Gemälde per Feldpost und machte ihr damit einen Hochzeitsantrag.
Leider war zu den gegebenen Umständen nur eine Fernhochzeit möglich. Meine Oma, eine stolze, prinzipientreue und etwas verkappte Romantikerin lehnte es ab, denn sie bevorzugte eine reale Trauung. Und so kam es, wie es kommen musste, sie blieb allein. Leider konnte auch der Kontakt zu meinen Opa nicht mehr hergestellt werden. Er galt als verschollen. Doch einige Jahre nach Ende des Krieges kehrte er halbwegs unversehrt, aus russischer Gefangenschaft, nach Hause zurück. Große Freude und das Aufgebot wurde bestellt. Jetzt bekam meine Oma ihre kleine echte Hochzeit, mit Brautkleid, Schleier, Ringen, Pfarrer und einen echten Kerl an ihre Seite. Aber die Krönung der Zeremonie, war ein kleines Blumenmädchen...meine Mami, ihre gemeinsame Tochter.
Die Märchen der Gebr. Grimm enden immer: "Und wenn sie nicht gestorben sind dann leben sie noch heute."
Meine Oma wird im Juni 95 Jahre...
