Headcold day three ... not fun .. some wonderful colour just on sunset this afternoon and I'm stuck indoors coughing up a lung .. at least it's not 'rona for a second visit .. just got over the brainfog from the last dose..

Cette photo est-elle le fruit d'un brainfog de ma part ou d'un e-smartfog de la part de mon sujet du jour ? La question est entière !

7/365/2022, 4025 days in a row.

Found a similar snowman while searching around on flickr, and fell in love with this piece, so went searching on Etsy and ebay, and voilá found him! I'm not really one for collecting mass-produced tchotchkes, so don't know what got into me with feeling I needed to have this!

But, with Valentine's Day coming up, why not? I've since discovered it was designed in 2003 by Jim Shore of Heartwood Creek, and is an ornament entitled "Winter's Song Snowman & Birds" . . . Fascinating history behind this very well known artist/business man! Many videos of his home, especially decorated at Christmas time!

Anyhoo . . . one learns something new every day!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

It's the struggle to concentrate. Forgetfulness. Difficulty to solve problems. You lose track of conversations. Tasks that are simple can be difficult. Things you knew by heart get lost. It's like when making a simple old recipe I have to remind myself of each step, reading over and over again every line until it's done. I started experiencing Brain Fog sometime after my diagnosis. The signs were subtle and it took a while to realize that something had changed. Following directions, confusion to understand what I'm reading, forgetfulness, getting lost in the middle of conversations are part of my struggle. There are several moments I find myself in a conversation and suddenly my mind drags me to another place. My body is there. There's eye contact, but my mind is not there. The connection between me and the other person is slow. Sometimes it makes me feel embarrassed to ask people what we were talking about. Somehow I was present, but not present. It's like the mind is full of infinite boxes, one inside the other. The strangeness of this disease made me question myself about anything and everything in silence.

Some people claim that masking impairs their brain, reducing cognition ( ability to concentrate and focus ). It might rarely cause this but if you catch the COVID virus it definitely causes brain impairment so better to stay masked!

Brain fog is very common to patients on multiple medications including anti-anxiety (benzodiazepines) anti-pain (narcotics) anti -neuropathy (anticonvulsant-Lyrica) anti-psychotic (quetiapine-Seroquel) and especially cannabinoids (tetrahydrocannabinol-THC, not CBD).

As I mentioned in the previous photo's description - I have contracted COVID-19. I spent almost the entire January sick, tired, and coughing, but overall - the symptoms weren't nearly as bad as they can be (thank you, vaccines!).

*

I'm now feeling almost as good as new and my quarantine period is nearly over. But the darn brain fog is so persistent! When covid combines with my naturally scattered mind, it's quite a disaster: I forget words in both languages, I forget where I put things, I forget what I wanted to do two seconds ago... It's pretty annoying, but it can also be hilarious.

*

Oh well, I'll keep taking care of myself, taking vitamins, avoiding alcohol, and creating - as it seems that I'm my focused and sharp self only when I create.

Using Light Therapy to Treat Seasonal Affective Disorder, Jet Lag, Chronic Fatigue, Brain Fog & Depression; Improve Mitochondria ATP Cellular Function and Greatly Boost Energy, Focus & Mood

Light therapy provides lots of interesting and effective options for using simple modern technology to improve our circadian rhythm and get better sleep, improve our cellular energy production and greatly boost our overall energy levels, mood and focus.

Today we are exploring ways to use light frequencies to hack our circadian rhythm during the winter months and when travelling long distances, in order to get deeper sleep, have more energy and greatly improve our cellular functioning.

New research into the way our skin, eyes and even our brain can directly intake different spectrums of light is providing us with lots of options for maintaining optimal sleep cycles and energy levels, from very simple and inexpensive light bulbs to more high tech devices that are still very affordable, especially considering their effectiveness.

Of course, the absolute most effective light therapy of all is free: sunlight. And if we can manage to get more sunlight into our bodies during the winter months, then this is the most effective and most affordable option. But its also the least practical for most people, right?

Sunbathing in the cold is really not most people’s cup of tea, though it combining cold exposure with sunbathing does have amazing health benefits. The amount of sunlight our bodies directly intake is really a major factor in why so many people feel great in the summer, but easily get sick and depressed in the winter.

I used to have these symptoms until I came to understand that these symptoms were really being caused by both the altered circadian rhythm set by the reduced light cycle, as well as the reduction in the amount of light my body was able to intake during the winter.

brouillard cérébral

My second picture on chronic illness is about brainfog. You know, that mental fatigue, that lack of concentration you may have experienced a few times when you are very tired, when you take the stairs but, by the time you get to first floor, you have forgotten why you came. Most chronically ill people experience this often, if not permanently. On a bad day, I sometimes can't understand what is being said to me; I hear but the words are like the sound of the wind. Or I read but realize after a page that I haven't retained anything at all. Or I try to speak but I forget all the words, even the simplest ones. I rack my brains to know if I took my medication or not, I put bicarbonate in the salad instead of salt, I go to my doctor's office out of habit when I was going somewhere else, I try to open my front door with my subway badge... My brain is in a thick cotton, through which reality looks like a blurry dream. I don't feel really awake, not really in the now. My attention is drifting. At first I was afraid, wondering what was happening to me. Now I try to adapt, to triple-check everything, to make lists to remind me of things and to set alarms to remind me to look at the lists...
