0. Warming up: A short brainstorm to get everyone into 'thinking mode' with a simple topic such as: How to survive on a deserted island with just a paperclip.
1. The Braindump: All initial thoughts on the topic of the brainstorm.
2. Divergent thinking: The second 'wave' of a brainstorm people start to consider all the options everyone put out and starts to create new ideas off those.
3. Creative Ideation: The 2nd wave generated ideas with mixed context. The 3rd wave goes deeper into those ideas by combining them into creative ideas, generating truly original solutions.

Every major issue I had is now solved. The software needs tweaking, there's some more functionality to add, but the hardware and software design work!
This was with a 1ms delay. Except that the impact of the coin on the surface of the water wasn't loud enough to trigger my sound sensor, but the coin plinking off the inside of the glass was (if you follow the cavitation down, you can visualize it hitting the side of the glass almost all the way at the bottom). So, the flash fired 1ms after "hearing" the coin (a little longer than that, actually - that's one of those tweaks I mentioned... I'm either not really running at 16MHz, or there's some overhead I wasn't aware of, somewhere).
For everyone following this project - it's almost safe to start holding your breath. For everyone else, thanks for tolerating my endless rants and braindumps here. In a few more days, there will be no more circuit board shots, there will be high-speed photography shots of ever-increasing quality, because I'll finally have the capacity to consistently create the right environment, at will, and be able to afford time and effort on increasing said quality.

Oh look, colours :)
Another vagually productive day, doing a bit of braindumping into The Brain and getting some unfinished things in it cleared up. I was going to start a pen observation of one of the homeless guys I met in Belfast but that didnt seem to happen. Ill start that tomorrow morning.
The worship leader said I played the drums well today in church, I havent got them home to practise in about a month and a 1/2 but I seem to be getting better. I have my suspicions that its the guitar practise (which is every day) that is rubbing off rhythmically, I dont know how but it seems to be.
I shot a video with my phone today of a car jouney, still trying to find a song for it before I put it together, lots of takes so I want to get something nice to go with it. I thought of The beep beep song by Simone White as the content is drive/car related but it might be a little short.
Still quite proud of myself for getting that work done yesterday, I must not let myself get lazy towards the end of this term because its the last I will ever see of this work.

I've nothing more to say. Been wrestling wordpress/php for most of the day. Im soo glad I wont be doing it next year. I can do it but it's just a complete braindump sometimes.
OK the whatcanidowiththismonolight ideas are running dry now. I found this little plastic dice in the house a few days ago and have been trying to think of how I can use it. This isnt exactly the best idea possible but hey ho..
I dont think I need to write the tech for this. The monolight was bare this time though its reflector hood thingy (google fail) is big enough to keep the fall-off acceptably soft for the skin.
Ima take a break tomorrow. Maybe get some more sleep if/when I can.

All done! Exam went well, a little harder than the resit but I'm just glad its over. Had the most epic cramming session with 2 other people in the final 15mins before the exam which proved usefull as I got an essay question on the last thing we covered :) This year was the first I wasnt nervous about exams. Even with the amount of revision I had I think I've got to the point were its just not worth it getting worked up about them, not that I don't care about or need them, but nerves do more harm than it does help IMO.
I knew about a week ago I would do a 'finished' shot for today but my original idea didnt work out. I think this is much better anyway. Typo is Museo 300 with some quick hand-written notes from the 4 sections of the exams module. All natural so no manipulative photoshop, just some ACR colour correction and a little contrast :)
I've started using Illustrator again for a logo job I got recently. Not that I absolutely need it to create the identity, but I think vector is the best weapon of choice in this case, and my Ai skills are incredibly rusty, I blame my lynda.com subscription running out.
Speaking of which. If any of you have a (legitiment) copy of the Adobe Creative Suite dont forget to register each program. And do it individually (Help menu>>Registration...) as I'm getting a month or two's worth of lynda.com subscription for each registration. So do one, work through the site for that registration length and then register the next etc. etc.
That site taught me everything I know about Ai (not a lot but some strong fundamentals) through videos which are really helpful, they take a bit more time than text but you quickly realise that Ai is a completely different program than Ps. Different concepts, different tools, different way of manipulating vectors than Ps etc.
Its like learning After Effects CS4, you think its like photoshop only more specific to a certain area, then you braindump at every other toolbar lol
I now have my Art&Design deadline on Friday so I think it's about time I got the right side of my brain working again :)
Setup was the 20d w/28-135mm on a tripod pointing directly down at the floor were the paper was. Then a hand-held vivitar 285HV on an umbrella holder w/ westcott 43" satin white shoot thru umbrella @1/4 power firing in directly above at about a 30 degree angle to the floor.

This spread is lacking in structure but it’s a long lazy weekend and we are going to a cookout on Monday so it’s fine. Since I use a regular planner as well as my journal I’m finding that I’ve been converting my BuJo into more of a art journal/smashbook/ therapy thing.

Wrote for a while in my journal last night. That blue ink on the left is the last bits of it--I also photographed some of that to work on at home. Once that came to its end, I was packing up my pen baggie n' stuff for the morning when I found my hand wrapped around a graphite pencil, going to town.
My thought filters and processes have been dismembered recently. As I found myself hopping around to different areas, it occurred to me that this was a visual representation of how some of my thoughts actually work and flow and that it's just as overwhelming in concrete imagery as it is in floaty abstractness within my head.

There was a hint of blue towards evening yesterday, but not like this. This is total fakery. Today we are back to cloudy and rain coming. We've had clouds and rain or rain coming for the past 10 days I think they said? It's no wonder I'm fucking depressed.
I'm feeling flat. Uninspired. Deflated. Aimless. Mostly aimless. I don't know what the hell I'm doing. I'm fearful.
One bizarre thing about being in recovery is the little sayings that seem on the surface to not make sense but are 100% true and effective. This here is one of 'em, "Fake it 'til you make it"...as in, you don't have to believe X right now. You don't have to think this is going to work. Just act as if you do believe it, and eventually? You will. This goes along with "act your way into right thinking."
Time for me to start faking like I've never faked before. ;-)

I love my camera phone, its like carrying around a holga, you know it wont take uber high quality pictures but you dont worry about breaking it and just use it as is, sort of using its low resolution and low quality optics to you're advantage. Then stick the pictures in for a little digital darkroom time and I wonder why I have an SLR lol
Today I was supposed to stay after school and get some clothes in Banbridge, I forgot and took the bus home. Mum however was at school waiting to collect me. She wasnt pleased so I decided to go to my cousin's house and wait for her to come back. It was raining and I took this of the path I walked. I think it was worth forgetting to stay :)
School is stepping it up on the difficulty front, biology is getting a good bit more technical and my lack of a-level experience in other sciences is making it hard to keep up. ICT coursework is just a braindump. Frontpage sucks.
Art is the only subject that I want to go to atm. Its just as difficult but im pretty excited with some of the ideas that im getting down onto paper, hopefully I'll be able to carry them through :)
