has been belted by storm after storm over the past week with beautiful hot summer days preceding intense storm cells rolling through every afternoon.
This image was shot from Bradley’s Head facing west as this impressive front bared down on the city.
Whilst this isn’t my usual landscape style image I do appreciate the colossal size of the cell and how miniature Australia’s largest city looks beneath it.
View large and, as always, thanks for looking!
2013 is shaping up to be a big year for me with a lot of changes on the way and unfortunately my photography has had to give way to some other pursuits of late (and probably will do so for a while to come).
It's great to be able to get back onto flickr in my spare time and see the tremendous work that people are doing. There are so many great photographers around today and I know that in this city alone there is a real community of exceptionally talented and creative minds building in size every day.
Keep up the great work everyone and keep the great photography coming! Oh and don't forget about me - I'm still here :)
Press "L" to view this large on black and, as always, thanks for looking!
I really wanted to shoot this again in differnent conditions after this mornings cloudless sky. So went back there this afternoon with the wife, the little fella and a bottle of wine. I wanted to go for a differnent style so opted for a less saturated look with more pastel tones. Also wasn't really happy with the previous comp as I wanted to get the lighthouse more centred.
Thanks for viewing my photography.
Port Jackson, consisting of the waters of Sydney Harbour, Middle Harbour, North Harbour and the Lane Cove and Parramatta Rivers, is the natural harbour of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The harbour is an inlet of the Tasman Sea (part of the South Pacific Ocean). It is the location of the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. The location of the first European settlement and colony on the Australian mainland, Port Jackson has continued to play a key role in the history and development of Sydney. Port Jackson, in the early days of the colony, was also used as a shorthand for Sydney and its environs. Many recreational events are based on or around the harbour itself particularly the Sydney New Year's Eve celebrations and the starting point of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. The waterways of Port Jackson are managed by the Roads, Maritime Services. Sydney Harbour National Park protects a number of islands and foreshore areas, swimming spots, bushwalking tracks and picnic areas. The memorial mast of HMAS Sydney that was Australia's greatest naval tragedy (world war 2) can be seen on Bradleys Head. 8737

Happy New Year!!!
INSPIRE - The theme of Sydney's New Years Fireworks display.
Without question, Sydney is right up there being one of the most beautiful and vibrant cities in the world.
Nothing could have stopped the dazzling fireworks display over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and colourful harbour.
If you live overseas, come to Sydney, and experience the greatest fireworks show on the planet. Not only the midnight show, but the 9.00pm show as well.
You will be glad you did & won't regret it.

Last Sunday morning Sydney was greeted with a beautiful sunrise which i captured from Bradley’s Head on Sydney’s North Shore.
I love how the sky lights up in beautiful pastel colours when you are facing away from the sun.
I hope you enjoy this image. Please feel free to share.

My final fireworks photo for the year.
Sydney always puts on an awesome fireworks display to greet in a New Year.
A magnificent spectacle lights up the skies and harbour.
Whilst some may question the $10 million spent on this display, it brings happiness to so many people.
One of the highlights in Sydney every year.

Ok I have put a couple of images of this location up in recent months however I didn't have a pano rig at the time and i wanted to get a wider shot of the harbour whiich gives more perspective. So here is another image of the lighthouse at bradley's head. Three images at 1 minute exposures. Please view large on black (press L). Thanks for visiting my flickr page.
A terraced amphithetre at Bradleys head provides a great view of the city and any activities on the harbour.

The view from Bradley's Head.
We were very fortunate to witness an awesome sunset over Sydney last night, so I couldn't go past posting in colour. Mother Nature put on a great show! View towards the city from Bradley's Head. July 2013.

A dark damp extremely slippery and moody morning at Bradleys Head this morning. Have never shot this lighthouse properly so went to get it this morning with this comp in mind. Took me forever to make my way across the moss covered rocks in the dark, but eventually found the comp I wanted and squeezed myself between a few large boulders to set up. Had my tripod set up with legs in directions I never knew was possible (shudda taken an iphone snap of that alone), but got the shot anyhow. Would have loved to have got a burning red sky, but thems the breaks. Hope you like "Hello Goodbye"....cheers, Mike

Really, I was just sitting at my favourite spot and along comes this rather large and posh wedding group in their Rolls Royces etc. The photographer then, no doubt politely, asks the fishermen if they would not mind the interruption. No worries! So they move and make way anticipating some interesting entertainment.
Then this rather inflated wedding party were then indulged with not just the photographer but an assistant wielding a 5DmkII on HD movie mode being as creative as possible, AND a videographer recording the whole damn shooting match. I was just sitting there, but with my trusty Pentax, what was one to do? Shoot of course, but ever so discretely.
Jealous? Nahhh!! but I could not resist giving the image a little "brindleyimages" treatment, just for practice!
Have a look with
At the end of a cloudy and muted sunrise, the sun burst through the gap on the horizon, and the whole harbour was washed with a yellow light.
From this angle, the glasss on the light was picking up the light and colour from the sun, and seemed to come alive again.
As The Days Go By
Daryl Braithwaite
My love of life just gets stronger
As the days go by
Somethings I wish, they would last
Just a little bit longer
As the days go by
Somethings don't look to me
Like they used to be, no
As the days go by, I get a little closer to
As the days go by, a little bit closer to you
As the days go by, I get a little closer
I'm coming back to you
Sure as the wind
Keeps on changing direction
I've come to understand
There's no such a thing as perfection
And what went on before
Doesn't matter anymore
Had a meeting in the city this morning, so went off down to Bradleys Head for a shoot on my lonesome. I love looking and shooting away from the rising sun (when there is a rising sun visible....this morning it wasn't).
This was an eight minute exposure using the NiSi 10stopper and the 0.9 Soft Grad.
And how cool was that seagull!!!
You wouldn't believe it.....stood dead still for the full 8 minutes!!
What a CHAMPION!!
Serious!!
No...Honestly........
Honest to god!!!!
I swear....
smile emoticon
Hope you like "As The days Go By"....Cheers Mike
Harbour Town
Icehouse
Well, you can see these people
At the end of every working day
Down at the local bar
Or maybe hanging out in some dark cafe
Down on the waterfront
As the big grey boats come steaming on home
It's anybody's guess
Where the night begins and the party ends
He says "come on baby, take a hold of my hand
'Cause it's Saturday night in the Harbour Town
And this city lights up when the sun goes down
It's Saturday night in the Harbour Town"
Shot at Bradleys Head, on Sydney Harbour last Sunday morning. A nice mood filled sky greeted us on arrival, and made for some nice long exposure photography.
Hope you like "Harbour Town"
Cheers, Mike

68 Guns
The Alarm
Hey!
And now they are trying to take my life away
Forever young I cannot stay
Hey!
On every corner I can see them there
They don't know my name, they don't know my kind
They're after you with their promises
(Promises of love) they're after you to sign your life away
(Yeah, yeah)
Sixty-eight guns will never die
Sixty-eight guns, our battle cry
Sixty-eight guns will never die
Sixty-eight guns, our battle cry
Sixty-eight guns
Sixty-eight guns
The sixty-eight
Living in the backstreets
That's our home from home
The painted walls were all we've ever known
'The Guns Forever' that's our battle cry
It is the flag that we fly so high
For every day they'll try and drag us down (drag us down and down)
I cry with anger I have done no crime, no
(Yeah, yeah)
Sixty-eight guns…
Caught up with Stephane this morning to go and shoot from Bradleys Head. That ended up being a no go, as the gate to the park was locked.
With 20 mins to go to sunrise, we shot around the headland to this location, and just got set up in time, to catch the sun break the horizon. Talk about cutting it close.
Hope you like "68 Guns"
Cheers, Mike
We came across some well equipped divers at Bradleys Head.
Their modern gear, including an underwater scooter, were the inspiration for this somewhat more old fashioned intruder in this image.
This young chap was wandering alone on the beach, away from his accompanying family.

Quite a delicious sky i thought as I rushed out of the house and finally got the camera settings right on the fly, because as you know the light can change very quickly.

The walkway from Chowder bay to Bradleys head.
Set in the middle of prime foreshore land, this is one of the many coastal walkways on Sydney Harbour with natrual coastal forest and views up and down the harbour. A great escape - in many parts there are no visible signs of civiliation, and you could be anywhere.
