Bradford on Avon

Bradford Pond, Harold Parker State Forest, Massachusetts, USA

Bradford is a city and the administrative centre of the City of Bradford district in West Yorkshire, England. The city is in the Pennines' eastern foothills on the banks of the Bradford Beck. Bradford had a population of 349,561 at the 2011 census; the second-largest population centre in the county after Leeds

After work I thought I would go to the park in Bradford for a walk. I came across this stream and after a little wander up and down I saw potential for an image. So, back to the car to get my wellies (thankfully I keep them in the car). and headed back to capture this.

Shot this at 1sec exposure (there was no wind at all) with a PL filter and ND grad to keep the reflections down and murky light.

I didn't realize the Bradford pear trees actually produce little fruits. Pyrus calleryana, or the Callery pear, is a species of pear tree native to China and Vietnam, in the family Rosaceae. It is most commonly known for its cultivar 'Bradford', widely planted throughout the United States and increasingly regarded as an invasive species. The inedible fruits of the Callery pear are small (less than one cm in diameter), and hard, almost woody, until softened by frost, after which they are readily taken by birds, which disperse the seeds in their droppings. Anyway, this is a new species for my prairie seed collection.

More narrowboats!! This was a great place to watch the boats travelling through Bradford-on-Avon. A lot of the boats are holiday boats but I'm sure a good number are lived in too. You can see the cafe we stopped at, on the right.

All of the Bradfords are blooming.

Just after this picture was taken the fountain was shut down apparently for a leak in the pipework. it is still not repaired.
