For our Red Telephone Box supporters.

The scourge of my box hedge. I got rid of hundreds of caterpillars by hand but they still mamaged to defloiated my hedge. Arrived in the South of the UK in 2007 and have spread Northwards rapidly.

Cast iron post box painted so many times that all definition is lost.

An oil painting on canvas exhibited at the Box Gallery.

You might say I like boxes. At least I can find stuff, as they all have like items in each box.

As I was driving home from work yesterday evening I noticed this beautiful little box turtle friend walking in the gutter between the curb & road on a heavily trafficked street... no way out for him because of the height of the curb. It was a shocking sight. There was also no where to pull the car over so I kept going, found the closest pull-off, and sprinted back half a mile in hopes he had not wandered into traffic. Luckily, when I arrived he was still in the gutter area now completely trapped & retracted. Poor little fella. Typically when rescuing box turtles I put them back in the woods as close as I can to where I found them, but this area was so heavily trafficked it just didn't seem like a good idea. So instead, he joined me as a carpool companion, and I dropped him off this evening at the local woods / nature area that I frequent across the way. Probably not ideal, but I do believe it's his best hope of carrying on, and for now at least he's safe. Good luck little friend. :) -H3

Apparently these are either extinct or endangered in many areas. If you see one keep it safe.

Hiking up the canyon, still in the lower part of the Box, we passed through some pretty impressive Ponderosa Pine groves along Pine Creek.

Box Tunnel passes through Box Hill on the Great Western Main Line (GWML) between Bath and Chippenham. The 1.83-mile tunnel was the world's longest railway tunnel when it was completed in 1841.

Generally speaking, male box turtles have red eyes.

The box turtle commonly lives over twenty years, with verified cases of lifespans exceeding 40 to 50 years. There have been unverified cases of box turtles living for a hundred years and more.

NEVER DISTURB, PICK UP , OR MOVE A BOX TURTLE UNLESS IT HAS A VISIBLE INJURY OR IS IN IMMINENT DANGER. If you find a turtle in the road, move it to the other side in the direction it was going. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RELOCATE IT.

Instow railway station was a railway station in the village of Instow, North Devon, England, on the Bideford Extension of the North Devon Railway. Opened in November 1855, the station closed to passengers in 1965, but the line remained open for freight until 1982. The signal box has been preserved as a working attraction. The Atlantic Coast Express used to go through the station on its way to Torrington, but it did not call at Instow.

The former site of the railway tracks is now part of the Tarka Trail.

Crazy Tuesday Theme: #box

😄 HaPpY CrAzY Tuesday 😄

A minimal shot from 2017 with an Olympus E-PM-1 and 14-42mm lens.

This week's Macro Mondays group theme is Lids. I sometimes struggle to find subjects that fit the 3" rule, so I'm always happy when I can turn to miniatures. This box is just 1" long, which means the shoes are tiny. They're quite difficult to handle and I knocked them over many times (!), but I eventually ended up with this. The box and shoes are standing in front of a shabby chic chest of drawers. And, by the way, another thing I love about miniatures is that I can have lots of them without needing to move house. It's probably a good thing that I don't collect jukeboxes... :))

Awwww arent they cute :D

Stepping Stones at Box Hill in Surrey

the Pilgrims Way path leads to Holy Island across the sands at low tide, the path being marked by a series of long poles. The tide is very fast moving and can catch people out due to the quickly rising waters. So there are 2 refuge boxes, perched on top of the poles that mark the route, high enough to keep the unfortunate safe and dry until the waters recede

Boxes and paper bags are highly prized by Pearl and Sundae, but Callie, being the elder, finds them unappealing.

- From Romeo and Juliet

The most perfect little music box, in the shape of a grand piano. And it plays the theme song of Romeo and Juliet - oh, the irony...

I absolutely love it. It couldn't be any more perfect.

I had a good day today.

I have never seen a box like this. Have you? Amazing what beauty products use as packaging... trying to catch the customer's eye...

Wanted to do some 'Out of the box' experiment.

Ended up with this :-)

...when in need, just open :)

A shiny sliver colored boxfor keeping things in. For 117 pictures in 2017, #1, something you open.

The anticipation when seeing a giftbox, unwrapping it, then slowly untying the ribbon and lifting the lid... sigh!

This is Box Canyon Falls, in Ouray, Colorado. It's a very difficult waterfall to shoot. It's at the bottom of a very deep, dark canyon and there are a bunch of guardrails and railings and other crap that is totally in the way. I had to awkwardly set up the tripod all crooked, so the camera was kind of hanging out over the railing to get this unobstructed shot.
