this weeks project 52 is "green, green grass". hummm, let me think. then i remembered. i took my son down to the marine corps recruit depot for his annual bootcamp challenge in san diego, california. as we were walking to the starting gate, i noticed how beautiful the grass was. nicely manicured with a few weeds growing here and there. i wanted to look closer because i couldn't believe a lawn could look that nice and green in the scorching weather. to my surprise, it was artificial grass! weeds and all (look closely at the picture)! alot of people are purchasing synthetic grass instead of the real deal now a days. as i was walking my dog, i noticed a neighbor of mine got it too! there's alot of good things that go with fabricated lawns. for one, it solves your expensive watering bills; it's easy to maintain with an occasional wash down; you won't need to mow anymore so you save on gasoline; it's green year rould with no brown spots for people that walk their dogs and decide to do their business on it and, no bugs. however, there are some downsides. like the nasty bacteria staphylococci and others that can survive on the plastic that is use to make the grass; sweat from athetes that remain on the grass if it's not washed or cleaned; if it's too hot the grass can burn your skin. me, i personally prefer real grass. there's nothing like walking on real grass. smelling of freshly cut grass is something i love. the whole synthetic thing just reminds me of something that would be on the staircase of a mobile home. it's just not cool. what do you think?
