Eén van de hoogtepunten van het carnaval in Mestreech is de grote Carnavalsoptocht (Boonte Störrem) die dit jaar plaatsvindt op zondag 15 februari 2015. Om 10.33 uur bevindt het Garde regiment 'de Kachelpiepers' zich voor de woning van de Stadsprins waar de prinselijke vlag gehesen zal worden. Om 12.11 uur wordt de carnavalszondag officieel gestart door 11 kanonschoten van het 'Momus kanon' en het hijsen van het 'Mooswief' op het Vrijthof. De grote carnavalsoptocht vertrekt vervolgens om 13.33 uur voor het Centraal Station.
