An accurate term which describes the pause of life in winter... Sometimes creating beauty
A song title by Bob Dylan
Did you ever have one of those days where you are doing your thing and random people decide your mere existence is a problem for them so they decide to take potshots either directly or indirectly, and even though you know in your heart of hearts the problem is not you because you have not done anything, you still feel like a toad? Did that ever happen so many times in one day you are sure you need to light a candle or say some magic words to make it all go away?
Me too.
The obvious solution for me is to not be around people and this beautiful spot at Nelipot is perfect. In fact, the whole sim is lovely and unspoiled with the dramatic affairs of humans. My kind of perfect.
Si tienes un sueño, como la mía ... Nadie te puede llevar hacia abajo
Si vous avez un rêve comme le mien ... Personne ne peut vous prendre vers le
Se hai un sogno come il mio ... Nessuno può prendere giù

Cherokee Park, Louisville, Kentucky, USA
This boondocking location was smack in between the Vermillion Cliffs and Colorado River, off Hwy 89A in the heart of Marble Canyon, offering a 360 view of the nearby cliff and distant ridgeline.
I was so excited to have scouted this location, strategically parked the van so that I could view both sunset and sunrise through both sides of the windows.
Oh well, sunset came and went, my dream was bursted with the non-eventful sky, with the clouds turned grey and greyer.
My attention turned to making dinner (reheating pre-cooked meal in the microwave) but still kept a watchful eye on the sky once a while for past experience has taught me not to give up hope until all lights were gone.
Well, there it was, suddenly the colors returned and some of the clouds even turned red even only for a brief moment!
Yippee!
(Well, so that you don't get all jealous of me 😉 - next morning's sunrise was a bust, so was the next sunset.)
I always appreciate your visit 😘 and love reading your comments❤️!
Wishing you a wonderful day, and perhaps one sandwiched between a splendid sunrise and sunset!🙏🙏🙏
Down in the Boondocks
This is another digital colorization of one of my "vintage" black and white images. L&N Extra 130 North was running quite a bit faster than the posted 35 MPH speed limit through the "Strawberry Patch" just geographically west of Big Stone Gap, Va. This spot is just 50 or 60 yards past the Wise-Lee County line. The train originated in Loyall, Ky. to deliver coal loads to the Interstate at Dorchester Junction. After continuing into Norton to pick up a fresh set of train orders for the return, the crew stopped at Appalachia to retrieve two tracks of empty hoppers left there by the Interstate.
I vaguely recall this June 1965 image was not planned. At the last possible moment, I think my father gave me the keys to the family car (the 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 just visible on the right). I was driving like a fool to first catch up with this train and then get ahead in hopes of reaching this crossing before he did. I barely got there. With no time to park the car out of sight, I left it on the other side on the narrow "lane and a half" gravel road, then raced over the track to find a spot to stand. The head car was full of sand--but as the speed picked up, quite a bit of it was choosing to go airborne and stay in Virginia. The unidentified engineer is giving me a big wave as the rush of fresh air circulates through the cab of Alco RS-3 No. 130. Air conditioning? For a locomotive cab? You have GOT to be kidding!! Sure, it's 90 degrees and a high dew point to match but unbutton your shirt and enjoy nature.
My first thought would be to use Photoshop to remove the car---but that's even worse than colorizing the image and calling it a "photograph." Instead, the evidence of a hasty decision and nowhere to park out in the boondocks of Lee County remains.
Roastin’ mallows in the boondocks
I saw this creeper figure at target and immediately had this picture in mind; roasting marshmallows with the demogorgon. All shot under a tree in my backyard. The flames were created with a couple of pieces of chopped cellophane lit from beneath. I made the roasting sticks and marshmallows with some wire and polymer clay. Anyhow; things hardly every come together when I plan a shot and this was the exception!

. . . The view looking NW from 400 feet straight above my cabin is almost devoid of any human touch. Other than a small view of Dundas Road on the far left and a mobile home on the bluff on the right, it looks like the Boondocks.
Have a great week Facebook, Flickr, and 500px friends!

My camper and truck at one of my favorite places to camp at the Salton Sea. On this night the sky was nice and clear, the Milky Way was shining nicely, the temperature was around 75° F (28.8° C), no wind, and the water was nice and still. This spot - like many around the Salton Sea - is nice and peaceful as it's never crowded.
I spent two nights here at the mostly abandoned Niland Marina County Park. This spot appears to be the old harbor and/or jetty. There are still several abandoned bathroom buildings nearby (not seen in this photo) and an old wooden sign with the park's name in information on it.
This shot is a median stack of 27 frames shot at 13 sec f/2.8 ISO 3200 with a Canon 6D and Sigma 15mm EX DG lens.
Soda Pocket is a "primitive" campground (i.e. no water, no electricity, no sewer, but a covered park table, a fire pit, a bear-proof food locker, and a pit toilet) in Sugarite Canyon State Park in New Mexico, 2 miles of uphill washboard gravel road from the main park, but in spectacular surroundings at 2,400m (7,900ft). Intended for tents, we had a camper van. Was great!

The Ghosts of Boondocking Past
~~~~~
Night photo near an old abandoned general store in Goffs CA, one of several ghost towns along a lonely stretch of Route 66 in the California desert. Goffs was an old mining and railroad town until, as with many other towns, evaporated when Interstate 40 took the travelers away, bypassing the town. Today, there are several residents and an excellent cultural center in town who keep the history and the town alive. You can regularly hear trains rumbling past.
This is one of the first photos I created with my new camera, a Pentax K-1, which was a joy to use. I've been using Nikons for many years, so finding the controls and everything else was a bit of an adjustment. I photographed up and down Route 66 at night, using Barstow as a home base. While taking this night photo, I illuminated the RV with a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light painting device during the exposure.
