Surprise gift! This bony hand made from plastic (and looking like having originally been part of a toy skeleton) was found by my studio partner Jenny Mackenzie Ross on the upper tideline of Forse beach, just behind the studio. Currently I ponder on a use for it - it is about 10cm (4 inches) tall. A brooch? :)

My son's collection of hand painted Reaper Miniatures - Bones figures. They are supposed to be used for D&D like games, but he just paints them and collects them.

If anyone wants some of these, we are willing to swop for any we don't have in the main pic (called 'all our crazy bones') or you can buy them 4 for £1.50 inc p&p, and I'll put some crazy bones stickers in too. :)

Walking in Louisiana and came across this sight. It's color but feels monochrome to me. Such a dry feeling for such a humid spot.

We were a good 20 yards away when my husband said "wait a minute" hit the breaks and reversed back to these bones. He then placed them artistically under my direction of course ;) and I got this photo. He found the rest of the carcass which we assumed belonged to a Wild Boar... either that or a coarse-haired human/boar hybrid.

A little still life that happened by itself on my kitchen counter.

The Bone Caves are a series of natural caves set into a high limestone cliff called Creag nan Uamh (Crag of the Caves). The caves are named for the large numbers of animal bones found during excavations.

There are four main cave openings in the cliffs, formed before the last ice age by water dissolving limestone in cracks in the surrounding rock. Subsequent glacial action and erosion of the glen by water left the caves hundreds of feet above the valley floor.

There is no indication that the caves were ever used as human habitat, but two separate human burials have been discovered within the caves.

In total, over 1000 pieces of reindeer antler have been found in the Bone Caves, with dates ranging from 47,000 to 8,300 years ago.

One rare find was the skull of a Northern lynx, dated to 1,770 years ago. This is the only Northern lynx ever found in Scotland. Other intriguing remains include a possible polar bear, arctic fox, wolf, and brown bear.

Finds from the caves are kept at the Royal Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. (Above Information Off Google)

Name: Jack

Species: Virginia Opossum

Sex: Male

Location from: Ohio

Other: An adult male that dropped dead in my barn when I lived in a rural area in Ohio. He was found in the morning, already beginning to decay, likely died early in the night before. He has evidence of a severe infection in his lower left jaw, and a broken right top canine with sign of beginning infection in the bone of the root canal of the same tooth. His incisors are missing post mortem.

Species Info: Opossums are known for their playing-dead characteristic, which helps preserve them when faced with a threat. They have an unusually short lifespan of up to 2 years (4 in captivity) and are omnivorous, preferring fruit, grain, insects, worms, and small animals like birds and snakes.

Opossum are native to Central and East North America and most of Mexico. They are not native to West US, but a small percentage have been introduced. Opossums do not do well in cold environments and thus are not found in the majority of Canada or North-West states.

Cross Bones graveyard and gardens in the site of a post medieval cemetery in the Borough. It is at the junction of Union Street and Redcross Way. Originally used in the 17th century for the burial of single women in unconsecrated ground, later used for the burial of paupers. It was closed in the 1850s. There may be up to 15,000 packed in one above the other.

I wonder how much a "Licence to Sin" cost from the church, and was it automatic forgiveness for those sins.

4 November 2016.

Roasted bone marrow with toast and flaky sea salt.

For the past few months, I've started training, I went running a lot, suffer a bit a the beginning, shortness of breath, pain in the legs, but step by step I started enjoying these moments of freedom, music and nature and nothing to think but run.

One day I started feeling real pain in the legs, I thought I ran too hard and that it will pass, I kept running a lot, at that point I ran 73 km in one month, but finally I had to face the reality : I had a real pain in the shin, I went to the doctor, and after an ultrasound and a X - ray it confirmed an inflammation on both periostum a thin part that covers the shin, it's a begnin injury, well known by athletes.

So, I had to stop every sports and stay very calm, after a month, I'm starting to feel better.

This little injury taught me some things, first listen to your body if t's aching like hell it's NOT normal, second it made me realize how much it's important to be healthy because even a begnin injury screwed my entire month, and when you're used to do sport to free your mind well a month without it is really hard for the mind.

So be healthy : Mens Sana in Corpore Sano

My local garden center has a farmers market every Sunday which attracts a strange assortment of vendors. It's held inside one of their huge greenhouses, so no one has to worry about the weather and it's surrounded by flowers which makes it nice. This lady was selling dog bones in 5 different flavors and dog "cookies" which were decorated and rather expensive.

Toby the dog lost his first tooth. Connor thought he would try to trick the tooth fairy with a dog tooth - he ended up with a giant bone in his bed. He is convinced it is a dinosaur bone.
