Plastic plates. Smile on Saturday :-). It’s obvious I’m experimenting, after yesterday’s fiasco with my ‘Abstract in Red’ I’m trying new things.
Question: when a shadow appears in a photo is it classed as its own hue/colour? Does it make another colour?
Thanks everyone!
Smile on Saturday :-)
Hi There,
The colours here were not saturated by me, but created by Mother Nature. I hope you have a colourful and creative day!
Thanks a million for looking and for your comments. I do love hearing from you!

These bright coneflowers already made a statement, but I decided to punch them up with colour saturation and an added effect in Topaz Studio 2. I hope you enjoy! HSS!

From the distance it may appear that the City of Vancouver has rolled out the red carpet treatment. Bold and intense colour changing lights illuminates the cobble stone and floods the space at Southeast False Creek Olympic Plaza, which served as the site of the 2010 Olympic Village.

Saturday Self Challenge; Pipes and Tubes
Just in case you're wondering, its the top of a drink bottle, placed upside down on a red counter, with the straw in focus. Photographed in strong morning light, with a boost of colour in editing.
A vibrant mural on the side of the Suki10C nightclub in Digbeth, Birmingham.
Painted by Gent 48, this striking mural serves as a powerful tribute to Birmingham’s diverse future. Featuring dynamic portraits and layered graffiti textures, it conveys both artistic innovation and cultural resonance. Situated on Meriden Street, the work exemplifies Digbeth’s reputation as a creative hub.
A tall, multi-windowed house stands alone against a dark red and purple sky, with a bold orange moon looming nearby. The foreground features dynamic, red-hued grass, adding a sense of movement and contrast.

Saturday Self Challenge: Bold, opulent or colourful
I'm not sure just which category this would fit, but when looking upwards into this palm, the twisting of smooth branches, the contrasting spikes of leaves and the blue sky above struck me as making quite a statement. I have added a filter to enhance the colours and textures just a little.
A pen and ink drawing which was scanned and then enhanced by digital techniques.
A lone figure stands among dark trees under a vibrant red and orange sky. The scene has an eerie and surreal atmosphere, enhanced by the contrast between the silhouettes and the bright background.
Bold colours rise above the tundra, shaped by Inuit vision from Quebec City. These energy-wise homes overlook Frobisher Bay with quiet dignity—public housing built for resilience, yet outpaced by the urgent hope of those still waiting. A promise of shelter, rooted in place and purpose.
Such a lovely vibrant colours these flowers have and the little bee was having great fun buzzing all over the place!!

What a welcome surprise...a yellow warbler (female) on the honeysuckle vine in the backyard! After a welcome overnight and morning rain, a ray of sunshine! Cloud 9 all day!
Oh my gosh, I’ve photographed many birds but never a yellow warbler and in my own backyard!
I’d let to dedicate this one to my Flickr friend “Steve Jones” (Gf220warbler), the warbler whisperer... thank you for granting my wish and sending warblers my way!

Bright blue birds swoop across a vibrant yellow sky with a glowing sun, set against an abstract landscape of orange hills and green trees. Geometric shapes and bold colours create a playful and dynamic scene.
This is a bract off a poinsetta plant. It amazes me that with the weight of all the glitter on it, it even stayed on the plant! I guess "they" figured nature didnt make it pretty enough.
It did make some pretty amazing bokeh though. :-)

Walking through a busy modern development in London on Wednesday I was captivated by this scene. The strong shadows and bold colour working perfectly together. Although I always shoot my street scenes in monotone Jpeg, I also save a RAW file so that I can choose colour if I think it works better. In this case this scene was always going to be colour.
