Dies ist wieder ein Foto aus der Rubrik "Eigentlich wollte ich etwas ganz anderes fotografieren ...". Ich stand am Rande einer überfluteten Wiese um Bilder von Vögeln im Flug zu machen als plötzlich zwei Rehe, ein Bock mit seiner Ricke, erst über einen Damm und dann entlang der Wiese auf mich zu kamen. Der Wind stand gegen mich, sie konnten mich nicht wittern aber obwohl ich mich abgekniet hatte, hätten sie mich auf jeden Fall sehen sollen weil keinerlei Deckung vorhanden war. Sie haben zu meiner Überraschung überhaupt nicht auf mich reagiert und ich konnte ein paar Fotos aus kurzer Entfernung aufnehmen. Das frische Gras scheint dem Bock zu schmecken. Er trägt noch die Winterdecke und hat (Mitte März) noch nicht damit begonnen, den Bast zu fegen. Wenige Sekunden nach dieser Aufnahme kam dann ein Spaziergänger mit drei Hunden des Weges und, wenig überraschend, das war zu viel für die Rehe. Sie verschwanden blitzschnell wieder über den Damm.
This is another photo from the category ‘I actually wanted to photograph something completely different ...’. I was standing at the edge of a flooded meadow to photograph birds in flight when suddenly two deer, a buck and his doe, came towards me, first over an embankment and then along the meadow. The wind was against me, they couldn't smell me but although I had knelt down, they should have seen me in any case because there was no cover. To my surprise, they didn't react to me at all and I was able to snap a few pictures from a short distance. The buck seems to like the fresh grass. He is still wearing the winter furr and has not started to sweep the bast. A few seconds after this photo, a walker with three dogs came along the path and unsurprisingly this was way too much for the deer. They disappeared over the dam again in a flash.

Over the centuries, the Bock and the surrounding defenses were reinforced, attacked, and rebuilt time and time again. as the armies of the Burgundians, Habsburgs, Spaniards, Prussians, and French vied for victory over one of Europe's most strategic strongholds, the Fortress of Luxembourg. Warring did not stop until the Treaty of London was signed in 1867, calling for the demolition of the fortifications. Ruins of the old castle and the vast underground system of passages and galleries known as the casemates continue to be a major tourist attraction.

Hornussen ist eine Schweizer Mannschaftssportart, die hauptsächlich in den Mittellandkantonen Bern, Solothurn und Aargau betrieben wird.
Das Hornussen wird zusammen mit dem Schwingen und dem Steinstossen zu den Schweizer Nationalsportarten gezählt. Ausserhalb der Schweiz gibt es nur durch zwei deutsche Gesellschaften in Münnerstadt und Großrinderfeld einen regelmässigen Spielbetrieb (Freundschaftsspiele und Deutsche Gruppenmeisterschaft). Ausserdem leben in Südafrika einige Hornusser; diese nehmen regelmässig an den interkantonalen Festen und am Eidgenössischen Hornusserfest teil. Die Südafrikaner nennen das Hornussen Swiss Golf.
Das Hornussen verbindet Elemente des Einzelwettkampfes (möglichst weiter Abschlag des Nouss als Einzelleistung) mit Elementen des Mannschaftssports (Abfangen des geschlagenen Nouss als Mannschaftsleistung).
Das Skuddeschaf ist eine sehr alte Schafsrasse. Der Bestand ist bedroht. Eine sehr genügsame Art, die auch stachlige Pflanzen frisst, die von anderen Schafen verschmäht werden.

This windmill is in Bocking Essex and is quite local to me so I popped over a few evenings back. The sky promised a lot but ultimately didn't deliver due to some stubborn low cloud. What I love about this shot is the fact that the corn isn't completely golden, the bottom halves are green. This makes for a great contrast and in my opinion adds plenty of foreground interest to complement the windmill in the middle ground.
