Boca do Inferno (bocca dell'inferno) è un antro situato nelle scogliere sull’Oceano vicino alla città portoghese di Cascais, nel distretto di Lisbona. L'acqua di mare ha accesso al profondo fondo del baratro e colpisce con forza le sue pareti rocciose, rendendolo una popolare attrazione turistica.

Boca do Inferno (Portuguese for Hell's Mouth) is a chasm located in the seaside cliffs close to the Portuguese city of Cascais, in the District of Lisbon. The seawater has access to the deep bottom of the chasm and vigorously strikes its rocky walls, making it a popular tourist attraction.[1] The cave was the first to be depicted in moving pictures, in the 1896 British film A Sea Cave Near Lisbon, which shows waves breaking at the mouth of the cave

Every time I go to Hell's Mouth, in Cascais, I can't help but wonder what lurks inside these caves carved in the limestone by the force of the sea and the wind...

 

Sempre que vou à Boca do Inferno, em Cascais, não consigo deixar de pensar no que se passará dentro daquelas grutas esculpidas no calcário pela força do mar e do vento...

This rugged landscape is home to various kinds of seabirds, such as these seagulls that must have been thinking something along the lines of "What a peaceful day here at Hell's Mouth - it even makes the name sound a bit silly, doesn't it?" :)

Looking North along the rock coast at 'Hell's Mouth' along the coast is the Lighthouse Guia "Farol da Guia" in Portugese.

Viewed from below, on the platform where you can properly appreciate Hell's Mouth, this is what the place where they sell souvenirs looks like.
