As the pandemic declines, the 4th is expected to see 50 million people traveling around the USA, with 1.5 million to weave through the TSA LINES at the Atlanta Airport. And YES, I was right there! It was totally worth it! 💞 Because, you see, Mimi had the opportunity to join the celebration of our newest grandchild turning ONE! The trip was a star-spangled event, for sure!
Arrived at the airport on time! Took almost an hour to go through security check! Took the train to B concourse! Had to find gate 7! My seat was 18 rows back and was an isle seat! Arrived home on time even through bumpy weather! Well worth the hassle!

I'm off for the weekend, to torment my Toronto friends with bars they've never been to, and restaurants they don't know. Huzzah! Hopefully I can post from the iPad, but if not...I shall bombard you all on Monday.

Each guest at A NIGHT TO REMEMBER randomly received a ticket upon entry to the upper deck of the virtual Titanic with a specific passenger's name, age and class from 1912.
The fate of each passenger was revealed just before Samm Qendra performed her stirring finale My Heart Will Go On.
Kicking off a bustling Dublin to London Heathrow flight, one of Europe’s busiest routes, packed with travelers chasing work, fun, or both!
The journey starts at Dublin Airport’s lively southern gates satellite terminal, where this Shamrock Aer Lingus A320 EI-NSE "Saint Flora ", not long delvered, ready to shuttle everyone away on today’s adventure.

I used to be afraid of flying. But got over it...now being up there is a joy and relaxing...well, if I get a window seat that is....

First class seat, what a view.
Seen at London City Airport, the home of the CityFlyer fleet of Embraer's, ideal for the short runway & steep landing/ take offs required.
As well as the convenience of London City Airport with quicker access to London itself, the airport provides amazing views for departing passengers, you can almost touch the wings from the gates, plus all boarding is done by walkway, there are no airbridges.
A waiting room with a difference, perhaps most people take it for granted & just want to get from A to B, but its the journey, not the destination.
Its gate A52 at Frankfurt Airport, Germany, a very special flight is about to depart, a Queen is scheduled to operate a one off flight at the start of the Easter break, an aircraft change from the usual A320, all the way up to the Boeing 747-800 intercontinental & Lufthansa has organised a real treat allocating their retro livery Yankee Tango for LH 1158, which arrived in from Miami earlier that morning.

Can not imagine why this photo ended up on Explore, bizarre !
So we went on a vacation in April. Left April 03 flying to Sydney Au on Air Canada's direct flight (15 hours of pure hell) from Vancouver. Flight was scheduled to depart YVR at 23:40 but didn't push off until 01:30.
Spent 3 days in beautiful Sidney (our 3rd visit) and then floated home to Vancouver on Holland America's Noordam arriving at the Vancouver cruise ship terminal May 01.

Souvenir! from my unique visit to the mighty USS Nimitz moored in Stokes Bay, the Solent.
In September 1980, I was fortunate enough to obtain a pass to get a tour of the nuclear aircraft carrier USS Nimitz [CVN-68] when she was moored out in the Solent. It was a very memorable day! This is the front of my boarding pass with corner ripped off as we boarded the boat that ferried us out into the Solent 😎 :)
And courtesy of Hampshire Airfields - a fantastic online resource - here is the complete complement of aircraft that were on board (aircraft that I photographed in bold):

USS Nimitz (CVN-68) is an aircraft carrier of the United States Navy, and the lead ship of her class. One of the largest warships in the world, she was laid down, launched, and commissioned as CVAN-68, "aircraft carrier, attack, nuclear powered", but she was later redesignated as CVN-68, "aircraft carrier, multi-mission, nuclear-powered", on 30 June 1975, as part of a fleet-wide realignment that year.
The ship was named after World War II Pacific fleet commander Chester W. Nimitz, USN, (1885–1966), who was the Navy's third fleet admiral. Nimitz had her homeport at Naval Station Norfolk until 1987, when she was relocated to Naval Station Bremerton in Washington (now part of Naval Base Kitsap). Following her Refueling and Complex Overhaul in 2001, her home port was changed to Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego County, California. The home port of Nimitz was again moved to Naval Station Everett in Washington in 2012.
In January 2015, Nimitz changed home port from Everett back to Naval Base Kitsap. With the inactivation of USS Enterprise in 2012 and decommissioning in 2017, Nimitz is now the oldest U.S. aircraft carrier in service, and the oldest serving aircraft carrier in the world. I've been working on a weekly diary for 2012, soon to be released for free download in Midori Traveler's Notebook format. At the back of the diary, I put this Boarding Pass To Success to help you focus your entire effort to a single mission, which is to be achieved in 6 months. After the period you will need to score your result into "succeeded", "delayed" or "failed".

...isn't one memory.
It's all of those memories that brought me to where I am today. It's all those memories that made me who I am today. Some are good. Some are painful. Some are just plain fantastic. Some are just awkward to even remember. But they are all, collectively, the best memory of my life.
I've kept a lot of keepsakes from my past, going back as far as 1997. I started by stuffing notes and letters I had received into a sachet, and from there has grown into a box and a half of ticket stubs, boarding passes, postcards, things I've picked up in faraway lands, and even a few knicknacks.
It might seem silly, but keeping these things helps me to remember all of the good and fantastic things, and remember how far I've come from all the awkward and bad things.
Jan. 7, 2014: Added annotations. There was a ton of other stuff that got clipped from the frame that I wish I could have included, but didn't compose as well.
Oddly random facts about me: I LOVE to fly (either abroad or within Brazil) I have a rather big collection of luggage tags which my dad (which travels a lot) and my sister always save them to give me. There are some from my own trips (see tags) and I hope to make tons of trips this year.
