Work in progress - putting a Bluetooth telephone headset back together amalgamated with vacuum tube radio headphones and a former telephone's mouthpiece. One earpiece works and the Bluetooth mike is on the mouthpiece. Later need to complete the attachment hook for the mouthpiece.
Done for the group Macro Mondays. Theme for Monday, May 25: Technology.
I was given this bluetooth earpiece for Christmas this past year, and it has been very useful. For a bit of perspective, it has a diameter of 1 cm.

Gente do céu!

I couldn't find test pads for the UART, so I tapped the serial port's connector. The left inside wire is RX and the right inside wire is TX. 5VCC and GND are on the outside, but it's easier to grab GND and 3.3VCC power from elsewhere.
I waited two weeks to get this ipad & only got to play with it for a night before I woke the next day to find that both the wifi & bluetooth have broken, so I am unable to connect to any networks which pretty much makes what was a lovely device, useless..
Thanks apple, for teasing me with a night with your ipad, I guess I have to take it back & wait another few weeks for it to be replaced because they are so hard to get..
Perhaps I will ask for a refund instead.
.. I've tried everything to fix, any suggestions?
edit: i took it to an applestore showed it to a worker who agreed it was broken. he told me to go back to reseller & exchange or wait 7+ days for a 'genius' appointment at their store.
I went back to the reseller, they tell me to go see apple first before exchanging it.
a vicious loop of bad customer service. maybe they don't understand how useless a mobile device is without a working wifi service.
EDIT: THE FINAL OUTCOME
It took a while, but I finally had an outcome.. After phoning apple tech suppport I recieved confirmation from a senior tech that my ipad was DOA & had it marked as such in their system.
Then I went into Dick Smiths, where they were really helpful & the poor sales assistant spent 2 hours on the phone to apple trying to guarantee a replacement. By the end of the call she had no resolution & was just as frustrated as I was. She suggested I go to the apple store & demand to speak to the manager about my problems.
So I went into the applestore, demanding to speak to the manager, eventually I did & was told I'd have to wait up to 20 days because there is a massive backlog of orders for these products that must be fufilled before mine can be replaced. I insisted this wasn't good enough & that they were breaking the law by not adhering to their 10 day replacement policy regarding DOA products. So she scurried into the backroom, returning to tell me that a genius could look @ my ipad.
Turns out I used to work with the genuis who saw me, so that was good because he knew that I wasn't a n00b about apple products & instantly agreed with me that the ipad was indeed broken.
So he went into the back room returning 5 minutes later with a replacement unit.
So the story had a happy ending, I'm glad I put in a huge effort to get this resolved quickly, if i didn't I'd be sitting here now feeling disappointed knowing i'd be waiting a few more weeks for a replacement unit.
