A few photos taken on my trip to Port Fairy, a small seaside town in Victoria. It started out as a whaling settlement around 1830, making it one of the oldest settlements in Victoria. Many fine buildings here built from the local bluestone.
We Had a short break here the week before last, the scenery is amazing. Pembrokeshire is beautiful, I've never been before but will return one day...perhaps when the kids are older and feeling a bit more adventurous. the resort itself was brilliant and the staff very friendly and warm...well worth a visit, we went during term time and it wasn't too busy, from what I understand it gets hectic during the holidays.
PA. Bluestone Premium Blue Natural Cleft, set in a sand and gravel Base with a triple Brick Border and single Row Lock.
12 x 10" oil on canvas. A commission. Quite a challenge to get the interior light right when it was a bright autumn day outside. I wanted to get that industrial feeling of well lit gloom with shadowy images of vehicles glinting under the harsh strip lights.
I'm really happy with the colours and tones in this - hopefully your monitor is calibrated well and there's heaps of detail in the background. I wanted to use the flash to pop lenyah out from the background. My composition is a bit off, but meh, i'll learn it for next time. I still can't decide how to crop it though...
strobist info: one 430EX doing it's thing with an off-camera shoe cord. f4 1/200 ISO 200, can't remember the flashes power.
