The head is 40mm across, and the holes about 1mm wide.

This image was produced for the Macro Mondays theme of Bottoms Up. It is an image of the underside of a gas burner from a domestic cooker. Even though it is not attached to the cooker the gas burner is still burning with the characteristic natural gas blue flame. Taken with Fuji XT2 fitted with a Samsung 100mm f2.8 macro lens. Elinchrom studio lighting.

Mucking around with various small "flames" for next week's Macro Monday challenge - flame.

This is a small camping gas cooker. - the burn head is 40mm across. The red is the hot Piezo ignition.

This one shot with a 70-200mm lens with two (#1 and #2) Kenko extension rings (so as to keep camera/lens a bit further away from the heat).

Active Assignment Weekly November 12 - 19: Fire Fire!

WIT: I've always wanted to try those flaming drinks, so I got a shot glass, filled it with vodka and tried to light it. I did not have overproof alcohol, and vodka is only 80 proof, so it wouldn't flame up at room temperature. I microwaved it so it was a quite warm, and then lit it with a long barbecue lighter. It flamed up, but I didn't realize it since I had the light on, and slightly burned my finger. The next time I turned the light off, and saw the blue flame. In post I added a texture to the background to give it a more old-world feel; I also cropped and tweaked the colour to make it a bit more blue-hued in the background.

Warning: don't let the flame go for too long, or the glass will break from the heat - I lost this glass, unfortunately...

Keep the fire burnin'

Let it keep us warm

The world will keep on turnin'

Let it turn you on

And let us not stop learnin'

We can help one another be strong

Let us never lose our yearnin'

To keep the fire burnin' all night long

The Kawah Ijen volcano is know for the blue flames. After an early start of the hike (1.30 AM) we reached the top at 3 AM. The descend into the crater is an amazing experience with a fantastic view on the famous blue flames. Around 5 AM we were back at the crater rim to enjoy the beautiful sunrise.
