MSO10W was a Leyland National NL106L11/1R B44F purchased new by Northern Scottish as their NPN10 in December 1980, later becoming Bluebird Buses 588. It was acquired by Western in 1988, and was a 41 seater by the the time of this shot taken near Cairnryan. It appeared on the front cover of my Western book, and is one of my favourite shots.

ORS109W was a Leyland Leopard PSU3F/4R / Duple Dominant II C49F purchased new by Northern Scottish as their NPE109 in May 1981. It passed with the business to Stagecoach and later worked in and around Perth. It was captured in Dundee, when heading back to the "Fair City" on route 16.
WFS136W was a Leyland Leopard PSU3F/4R / Alexander Y Type B53F new as Alexander (Fife) FPE136 in August 1980. It later worked for Bluebird Buses before coming to Western in 1995, and was captured in Dumfries.
SV55 BZJ is an Alexander-Dennis Dart SLF/Alexander-Dennis Pointer 2 B38F bus in the fleet of Cheltenham & Gloucester. It had been new to Bluebird Buses as 34734 in October 2005 and arrived with Cheltenham & Gloucester in August 2015.

There was a good selection of visiting coaches on 26th February 2023, when Wembley Stadium hosted its first showpiece final of the season, with Manchester United meeting Newcastle United in the EFL Cup (Carabao Cup). One such vehicle pictured transporting Manchester United fans to the game was SV62 BBJ, a Van Hool TDX27 Astomega CH63/24Dt coach in the fleet of Orion, Openshaw, Greater Manchester. It was new to Bluebird Buses as 50246 for Megabus work in September 2012, transferring to Western Buses for the same purpose in April 2016, then to Thames Transit for Oxford Tube duties by December 2019 and then back north of the border to Fife Scottish in October 2020. It joined Orion in November 2022.

Another long-lived Routemaster, this one is currently (2018) operating for Stagecoach London on the Heritage Routemaster route 15, but is owned by TfL.In November 1988 it was operating for Stagecoach's Magicbus operation in Glasgow and moved on to Bluebird in 1994. It returned to London in 2001 and refurbished for use on route 38 before the Heritage route 15 operation started in 2005.

New to Stagecoach Bluebird Buses in JET livery for the 727 service to Aberdeen airport. Transfered to Fife in 2016 for the 747 JET service to Edinburgh airport from Halbeath P&R.
YSO38Y was a Leyland Olympian ONLXB/1R / Alexander RL Type H45/32F new as Northern Scottish NLO38 in January 1983. As can be seen the company was in the throes of a livery change at the time. It would pass to Stagecoach with the business, then on disposal join Grant Palmer of Dunstable.

The disposal of 16200 (L28 JSA) last month marks the end of this notable batch of Volvo Olympians just a year short of their 20th anniversary.
It was part of a batch of six Olympians with fleetnumbers that filled in gaps in the Olympian fleetnumbering series, 026-8 (L26-8 JSA), 100 (L110 JSA, later reregistered L100 JLB), 101/2 (L101/2 JSA) which became 16198-200/10/01/2 in the national Stagecoach series in 2003.
They were delivered new to Inverness Traction for the 25 service (although it was suggested locally at the time they had been ordered by Aberdeen for the 59), and some later migrated to Aberdeen and Perth when the three areas were all part of the enlarged Bluebird Buses.
The batch suffered from chassis corrosion problems that was an issue for Olympians of this vintage and 16202 was taken from Inverness to Perth where it donated useful parts to Strathtay Olympian 16881 in 2009 and eventually scrapped by Hyperworld, Denny in 2010.
16200 failed first with Inverness in 2007 following a rear end shunt and was taken to Buckie for storage and looked to be on its way out. However, it was treated to a rebuild and major chassis overhaul work in 2008 and was reregistered to NIB 4138 and retained at Tain for the 35 service to Portmahomack, then moved to Bluebird in 2010 for school contract work at Stonehaven as a yellow school bus, briefly loaned to Aviemore in 2011 before finishing up at Macduff for Banff Academy work where it last until December 2012 by then back as L28 JSA. It is now with Hilton, Newto-le-Willow for resale.
It brings to end what is believed to have been the last Inverness Traction decker with Bluebird.
102 (16202) is seen here at King Street Depot (back when Bluebird rented part of the depot space prior to the opening of the depot at Tullos) back in 1993 when new, three days before it was taxed and prepared for service in Inverness.

To mark the 40th anniversary of Stagecoach bus & coach operations, I have staged a photoshoot of all my Stagecoach and related models, including Megabus.
This picture shows a relatively broad spectrum of Stagecoach models from the relatively new ALX400 in beachball livery of Stagecoach Strathtay, through to the very basic all over white Y-Type Leyland Leopard with original Magicbus branding from the late 1980’s foray into the Glasgow bus market, using elderly and poor condition ex-Kelvin Scottish Y types alongside ex-London AEC Routemasters.
Models shown here represent a few areas of Stagecoach operation including Glasgow, Western (Ayrshire), Fife, Bluebird (Aberdeenshire) and Strathtay (Tayside, Angus & Perthshire).
The models are all 1/76 scale (OO Gauge) and are a mixture of Code 3 and officially released Corgi & Creative Master Northcord (CMNL).

GGE131X was a Volvo B10M-61 / Duple Goldliner III C46Ft new as Western Scottish V131 in July 1982. It was rebodied by East Lancs in February 1998.
This Leyland Leopard PSU3E/4R was fitted with a Plaxton Supreme IV Express C49F body, and was new as London Country number PL29 for use on Green Line express services. It then operated for Stagecoach East Midland as their number 17 in the Midland Travel fleet. Western acquired it in 1995 from Bluebird Buses. You can almost hear the roar as it sweeps past en route for Troon, and it must be said it looked immaculate.
Pictured arriving at Showbus 2021, held at the Hertfordshire County Showground is S659 JSE, a preserved Volvo B10M-62/Jonckheere Modulo coach. It had been new to Stagecoach Bluebird in October 1998, moving to JW Coaches in July 2007, but returning to Bluebird before transfer to Highland Country in May 2008 and although transferring to Orkney Coaches in June 2009, it was taken back into Highland Country stock in September 2013. One more intra-Scottish Stagecoach transfer took it to Fife Scottish in June 2014, before it passed to East Kent as a Driver Trainer in August of that year. It was acquired by De-Luxe, Drakelow, Derbyshire in April 2020 and passed into preservation in October 2020.
