Blueberry fields in Richmond are surprisingly colourful even without the leaves and berries but the colour is especially stunning when everything is wet.
Blueberry is our 3-legged cat! He enjoys time out in the cat enclosure particularly on this little table!
Taken for Happy Caturday! I cannot seem to get it to post to the group! :( I am a sad kitty, for sure!
(Our internet is down and you wouldn’t believe what I had to do to get these pics up here!)
A few ripe Blueberries every day. The bush is loaded. At one stage it was full of berries and no leaves.
The surprise was I didn't know these were blueberries :o)
I finally got my lazy arse out of the house today and spent a very pleasant day with photo friends at Acadia University's Botanical Garden in Wolfville. Whilst I didn't take many photos, I did find a few little gems like this to catch my eye.
Some people consider blueberries a superfood. In the Nordic countries, everyone can pick them freely from the forest. Larger amounts, however, require a bit of effort.

I had to use willpower not to eat the blueberries before the photoshoot was over, but now I can indulge with abandon.
Blueberries have many health benefits and they are delicious. If I can't find affordable fresh ones I don't hesitate to purchase the frozen variety.
Well, it looked so plump and soft. And, yes, it was very tasty. :)

Macro Mondays B-Food Challenge
Blueberries are an amazing super food. Packed with antioxidants they are also high in potassium and vitamin C. They can help lower your risk of heart disease and cancer, as well as being an anti-inflammatory.
A close-up of ripening blueberries, bathed in soft summer light. Their delicate hues shift from pale green to deep blue, a natural gradient that feels almost like jewelry crafted by nature.
Macro Mondays 'Staying Healthy' theme.
One of my main 'staying healthy' routines is to eat masses of fruit. Every week I come home from the shops with a wide variety, nearly always including blueberries.
I also walk my dogs every day, do yoga and hooping - but couldn't come up with a decent macro to represent any of those!
The whole image measures 7.5 cm x 5 cm it just squeezes into the 3 inch rule.

Ripening blueberry in the small garden of my mother-in-law :)
Northern Highbush Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) is a species of blueberry native to eastern North America, growing from Nova Scotia and Ontario south to Alabama, and west to Wisconsin. It is a deciduous shrub growing to 4 m tall, often found in dense thickets. The dark glossy green leaves are elliptical and up to 5 cm long. In fall, the leaves change to a brilliant red. The flowers are white, bell-shaped, 10 mm long. The fruit is a dark blue to black berry. This plant grows best in wooded or open areas with moist acidic soils. This plant is also the most common commercially-grown blueberry in North America. In the wild, it is enjoyed by birds, bears and small mammals.
