I spent some time this morning watching two osprey fish. Even though the water was very high from the recent rains the osprey were fairly successful. Only once did one fly past me with a fish ... and I just barely got him in the frame.

(The fish may be a blueback herring.)

Well, this morning Kuala Lumpur was not especially bright-skyed but I suppose that made it easier for Sony to capture the light colors of this Dragonfly, Aethriamanta gracilis. It's name is thought to signify: Lover of the Bright Sky, and it certainly is graceful. Pond Adjutant was surveying the Lotus Pond in the Taman Tasik Perdana, not far from the Central Railway Station.

In February 1994 the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) towed the USS Blueback to Portland, Oregon, where she now rests as an interactive part of the museum and a memorial.

Walked down the 300 steps the city built in this park, tide was out. Ipad image.

Barn Swallows (Hirundo rustica) have long forked tails and fairly short legs. They are often seen flitting here and there over water, searching for insects. They are fairly common in North America, but don't sit still for portraits, at least not for me : )

Seen at Lake St. Clair Metropark marsh, Southeast Michigan.

Posted on the shore: "This water is home to Arctic Charr, also known as blueback trout or Sunapee trout. Maine's native Arctic Charr are the last in the contiguous United States. ..."

This image was taken while the remnants of Hurricane Elsa were passing through Maine, hence the stormy looking weather.

Paul: Hey, why don't we show him our motor?

John: Should we really…show him our motor?

Paul: He may not have seen one before.

Jeremy: (Fiddling with the motor) Turbo-prop, super-combustible spring. Metrocyclonic and stereophonic. This motor, I see, has a broken down…thing!

(He hits it and it works again.)

A Barbel-class submarines was the last non-nuclear submarine to join the fleet. Commissioned on October 15, 1959 and was decommissioned in 1990. Blueback appeared in the 1990 movie The Hunt for Red October. Her home is at Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.

Here’s another pic from the USS Blueback shoot I did back in 2010.

While similar to the one image I’ve already posted, this shot is more focused on the sub.

The Blueback (SS-581) is now on permanent display at the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry (OMSI) in Portland. If you're ever in town, check it out.
