Since three years Cortez has diabetes. In the beginnen it was difficult to find the right dosage, but for 2 1/2 year he was stable on a low dosis. Cortez is doing well again. 6 weeks ago the bloodsugar level was high again. I have raised the insuline slowly and now he is back to normal again

Update: 2 july:
Again much to high bloodsugar levels. I have to raise the insuline again.

Blood Sugar by Tony Cragg
A bottle, a bowl, a vase-familiar objects that are grouped in unfamiliar ways can give us a new perspective on how we understand them. By creating new associations, tony Cragg demonstrates that even complex things are made up of basic elements. Grouped together, these everyday objects can remind us of something completely different, like a blood-sugar molecule.
I am so sorry friends I haven't been on Flickr in awhile. On Jan. 27 my husband John had a heart attack. He said he had the flu and was acting like he had the flu. We didn't know he had the heart attack until Monday, Feb. 1 when I took him to the hospital emergency room. He had a clot forming in his heart that caused the heart attack. They also discovered he has diabetes. His bloodsugar was 394. He has been in the hospital since Monday morning at 12:30 a.m. The doctors couldn't transfer him to the hospital I was at because of patient overload and then that area had a major blizzard and no one could get through. The doctors are trying to dissolve the clot in his heart and to regulate his blood in several areas...sugar and other things. He may get to come home Sunday if his blood is working right. They overdosed him on cumoudin and had to give him Vitamin K shots. Now that is straightening out but he is vey tired. I have been doing OK but this has me rather stressed out. He is my rock. He is the love of my life. I miss him terribly and have been close to being a basket case. LOL! Please pray for John to get better. Thank you all for your friendship and love.
Or blood glucose. Same thing, except blood sugar seems more graphic, more like the admonishment I need. It's a daily ritual for me. Up to this point, I'm still on oral medication. No insulin injections yet. This particular test resulted in a number that's the highest my blood sugar has ever been. I'm not sure why I'm still alive to write this! Just kidding. I'm out the door for my daily walk as soon as I upload this shot. Get that number down, Mike.
(for Macro Mondays, Theme—My Daily Routine; I used a similar shot for another group—Poetography—about a year ago and paired the shot with a poem ("Glucose Self-Monitoring") you might like. You may see the photo and a link to the poem here.)
* I designed this Sugar Bag with insuline dependant diabetics in mind. It has no less than ten (!) pockets inside, to carry along insuline pens, needles, bloodsugar measuring device, lancets and test strips, notebook and pen, tissues, etc.
But then again, you don’t need insuline dependant diabetes to enjoy a bag like this, with this many pockets...
The bag is made out of faux suede and faux leather. It gets its sturdiness from a 3mm thick felt layer between the outside and inside fabric.

Well, the dinner had to be a bit more stiff than the previous upload.
All in order to revigorate us and raise the bloodsugar levels around here after a tough day.

Blood Sugar
Artist Cragg's early working years as a lab technician had some influence on his career when he became interested in art and glass. The title of this work was inspired by the shape of glucose molecules. The sculpture, containing five separate elements, can be arranged in different ways. Thus everyday objects such as cups, bowls, plates and pitchers can be transformed.
Thirty objects of irregularly cut and etched glass are glued onto both sides of sheet glass!
“All that is gold does not glitter,
not all those who wander are lost;
the old that is strong does not wither,
deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
a light from the shadows shall spring;
renenwed shall be blade that was broken,
the crownless again shall be king.”

Sweet Pruttel. She's had such a rough year, being diagnosed with diabetics, and having to visit the vet so many times, not responding well to the insulin with her bloodsugar level going from high to low and back again, resulting in several hypo's. Last Monday, it was such a bad one, I thought I was going to lose her. But yet again, she pulled through. My baby. I wish it was a bit easier so I wouldn't have to worry so.

Anna: please, I need my lunch, my bloodsugar level is sinking low!
Other human: hang in there Anna, lunch in 15 minutes or so...
Anna: 15 minutes..??!!
I hope you're not squeamish about the sight of blood. This is a tiny droplet meant for my glucometer. I couldn't resist, given the poem I found, called "Glucose Self-Monitoring." The poet, Katy Giebenhain, has a sense of humor, I think, and uses several metaphors for testing blood sugar. Mine, today, was about twenty-five points over what it should have been. That's what I get for too many carbs over the past two days. But you have to cheat once in a while, don't you?
Hand, my martyr without lips,
my quiet cow.
I'll milk your fingertips
for all they're worth.
For what they're worth.
Something like a harvest, it is,
a tiny crime.

I have encountered a new part of my life. This will involve watching what I eat and testing myself with this equipment for probably the rest of my life.

Wild Bilberries or European Blueberries near the Little Inn/Gospodka Forester Lodge, Marianowo Administrative Country District/Solectwo Marianowo (Vaccinium myrtillus L., many common, regional names: blaeberry in Scotland, blue whortleberry, common bilberry, fraughan, hurtleberry, myrtleberry, urts or hurts in Cornwall and Devon, whinberry, whortleberry, wimberry, or winberry; jagoda, czarna jagoda, czernica in Poland). It is a holarctic, primarily Eurasian species of shrub with edible fruit of dark blue color and is widely used as a medicinal plant (or for other purposes). The plant lower blood sugar level. Dried blueberry fruits have been used in traditional medicine because of their high concentrations of anthocyanins (antibacterial effect), as a medicine for diarrhea and bloody dysentery, in folk medicine against pinworms, and in relation to colorectal cancer inhibition and prevention, inducing apoptosis and regulating angiogenesis.

Stop all the clocks,
Cut of the telephone,
Prevent the dog from
Barking at a juicy bone.
Silence the piano's, and
With muffled drum
Bring in the coffin,
Let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle
Moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky
The message: HE IS DEAD.
Put crepe bows round
The white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen
Wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North, my Sounth,
My East, and West,
My working week,
And my sundays rest.
My noon, my midnight,
My talk, my song.
I thought that love would
Last forever: I wasn't wrong!!!

N. T. even if he's just 9 years old, helps his parents counting and making bunches with the sugar canes. He's from Bang Village - about 2 hours drive away from the plantations, where he lives with his other 2 brothers. His family decided to start working in the plantations as they suffering a very strong drought and they are not able to cultivate their lands. This little kit makes it fast and easy to check my blood sugar, which is something I just started having to do very recently . It's much harder to write down everything I eat than to do this little lab test.
