ENGLISH
Cymbidium /sɪmˈbɪdiəm/, commonly known as boat orchids, is a genus of evergreen flowering plants in the orchid family Orchidaceae. Orchids in this genus are epiphytic, lithophytic, terrestrial or rarely leafless saprophytic herbs usually with pseudobulbs. There are usually between three and twelve leaves arranged in two ranks on each pseudobulb or shoot and lasting for several years. From one to a large number of flowers are arranged on an unbranched flowering stem arising from the base of the pseudobulb. The sepals and petals are all free from and similar to each other. The labellum is significantly different from the other petals and the sepals and has three lobes. There are about fifty-five species and sixteen further natural hybrids occurring in the wild from tropical and subtropical Asia to Australia. Cymbidiums are well known in horticulture and many cultivars have been developed.

Traditionally today is "Sul y Blodau (Flowering Sunday) the Welsh term for Palm Sunday (the Sunday before Easter Day) when flowers were put on graves in Wales.
On the Saturday before Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday, gravestones at some churches in Wales were cleaned or whitewashed, the graves were tidied, and flowers were planted or strewn on them."
Today however due to Covid Restrictions being eased in Wales we had a socially distanced visit from our son and family outside on the patio. Thankfully the wind and rain had eased off enough to pull the awning out , one that we had installed many years ago attached to our back wall ( in comments)

Antirrhinum majus, the common snapdragon (often - especially in horticulture - simply "snapdragon"), is a species of flowering plant belonging to the genus Antirrhinum. The plant was placed in the family Plantaginaceae following a revision of its prior classical family, Scrophulariaceae.
The flowers are produced on a tall spike, each flower is 3.5-4.5 cm long, zygomorphic, with two 'lips' closing the corolla tube lobed divided into three parts and is purple red, almost 5 cm long. Wild plants have pink to purple flowers, often with yellow lips. Most 8 to 30 short stalked flowers are in an inflorescence together; the inflorescence axis is glandular hairy. The crown is 25 to 45 (rarely to 70) millimeters long and in different colors (red, pink, orange, yellow, white). The "maw" of the crown is closed by protuberance of the lower lip, one speaks here of "masked", and everted baggy at the bottom. There is a circle with four stamens. The plants are pollinated by bumblebees, and the flowers close over the insects when they enter and deposit pollen on their bodies. Calyx is up to 8 mm long, with sepals of equal length, oblong to broad.
The ovary is supreme. The fruit Is an ovoid capsule 10–14 mm diameter shaped like a skull, containing numerous small seeds.
Magnolia × soulangeana

ENGLISH
Magnolia × soulangeana (Magnolia denudata × Magnolia liliiflora), the saucer magnolia, is a hybrid flowering plant in the genus Magnolia and family Magnoliaceae. It is a deciduous tree with large, early-blooming flowers in various shades of white, pink, and purple. It is one of the most commonly used magnolias in horticulture, being widely planted in the British Isles, especially in the south of England; and in the United States, especially the east and west coasts.
Growing as a multistemmed large shrub or small tree, Magnolia × soulangeana has alternate, simple, shiny, dark green oval-shaped leaves on stout stems. Its flowers emerge dramatically on a bare tree in early spring, with the deciduous leaves expanding shortly thereafter, lasting through summer until autumn.
Magnolia × soulangeana flowers are large, commonly 10–20 cm (4–8 in) across, and colored various shades of white, pink, and maroon. An American variety. The exact timing and length of flowering varies between named varieties, as does the shape of the flower. Some are globular, others a cup-and-saucer shape.
Hybrid origin
Magnolia × soulangeana was initially bred by French plantsman Étienne Soulange-Bodin (1774–1846), a retired cavalry officer in Napoleon's army, at his château de Fromont near Paris. He crossed Magnolia denudata with M. liliiflora in 1820, and was impressed with the resulting progeny's first precocious flowering in 1826.
Many times, Soulange-Bodin is cited as the author of this hybrid name, rarely with a reference to a publication however. If a source is given, it is often an English translation of a French title (see for example Callaway, D.J. (1994), World of Magnolias: 204). Soulange-Bodin certainly did not name the hybrid after himself. The name was proposed by members of the Société Linnéenne de Paris and published by Arsène.

"In August, I [[Guy CHRISTENSEN] was honored along with Ms. Rachel of making it to the “Antisemite of the Week” run by stopantisemitism.org. You speak out for Gaza, and suddenly you’re on a blacklist next to neo-Nazis and white nationalists all because you said Palestinians deserve to live.
That’s what “Antisemite of the Week” is. It’s a propaganda hit list run by Zionist hasbara operatives slapping the same label on preschool educators, Jewish anti-Zionists, and literal fascists because they care more about defending Israel’s image than fighting real antisemitism.
That’s the absurdity and political purpose of these smear campaigns, it’s not to protect Jews, but to shut down criticism of Israeli apartheid by weaponizing identity. It’s sloppy and cynical, the zionist grip is finally losing it’s bite. “Antisemitism” means nothing anymore." --- mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/FMfcgzQdzcrgxRCwXxSfFgTSB...

"Since the so-called ceasefire came into effect in Gaza on October 10, Israel has been consolidating its control of over 50% of Gaza and—according to new research by Forensic Architecture—physically altering the geography of the land. Through a combination of the construction of military infrastructure alongside the destruction of existing buildings, Israel appears to be laying the groundwork to establish a permanent presence in the majority of the Gaza Strip.
Israel has constructed at least 13 new military outposts inside Gaza since the ceasefire—primarily located along the yellow line, in eastern Khan Younis, and near the border with Israel, according to analysis of satellite imagery by Forensic Architecture.
“Israel is doing what it always does, and what it historically has done best: establish ‘facts on the ground,’ incrementally rather than spectacularly, and make them permanent once those with influence to force it to reverse course either lose interest, decide that the cost of confronting Israel is not worth the price, or come out in open support of Israeli violations. Israel is in no rush and prepared to play the long game,” Mouin Rabbani, co-editor of Jadaliyya and a former UN official who worked as a senior analyst on Israel-Palestine for the International Crisis Group, told Drop Site after reviewing a summary of the Forensic Architecture findings." -

A surprise discovery in the middle of our capital city (Cardiff) which reminded me of the character of Blodeuwedd ('flower face'); according to her tale in the mediaeval collection, 'Y Mabinogi', she was created out of flowers and wildflowers sprang up in a trail behind her wherever she walked... Both wild and innocent she is cast as a very early 'femme fatale'

Rosa chinensis (Chinese: 月季; pinyin: yuèjì), known commonly as the China rose[ or Chinese rose, is a member of the genus Rosa native to Southwest China in Guizhou, Hubei, and Sichuan Provinces. The first publication of Rosa chinensis was in 1768 by Nikolaus Joseph von Jacquin in Observationum Botanicarum, 3, p. 7, p. 55.
The flowering time ranges in China from April to September. Rarely, the flowers are solitary, usually four or five bundles together. The 2.5 to 6 cm long pedicel is hairy almost bald or glandular-fluffy. The one to three bare bracts are linear with a pointed upper end and smooth or glandular margin. The flowers have a mild fragrance.
The hermaphrodite flowers have radial symmetry with a diameter of 4 to 5 centimeters and are divided with double perianth. There are cultivated forms with simple to more or less strongly filled flowers, which are also wild in China and other areas of temperate latitudes. The bald flower cup (hypanthium) is egg-shaped-spherical or pear-shaped. The early dropping sepals are ovate or sometimes foliage-like, simple or lobed with a dished upper end and bald on the underside and hairy on the top shaggy.
The depending on the form five to several or many petals are white over pink to red or purple, obovate with a wedge-shaped base and a polished upper end. There are many stamens present. The free, hairy styluses tower over the petals and are almost as long as the stamens. In China, the rose hips ripen from June to November and turn red. The bald rose hip is egg-shaped or pear-shaped with a diameter of 1 to 2 centimeters.
