Traditionally today is "Sul y Blodau (Flowering Sunday) the Welsh term for Palm Sunday (the Sunday before Easter Day) when flowers were put on graves in Wales.

On the Saturday before Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday, gravestones at some churches in Wales were cleaned or whitewashed, the graves were tidied, and flowers were planted or strewn on them."

Today however due to Covid Restrictions being eased in Wales we had a socially distanced visit from our son and family outside on the patio. Thankfully the wind and rain had eased off enough to pull the awning out , one that we had installed many years ago attached to our back wall ( in comments)

ENGLISH

Narcissus pseudonarcissus (commonly known as wild daffodil or Lent lily) (Welsh: Cennin Pedr) is a perennial flowering plant.

This species has pale yellow tepals, with a darker central trumpet. The long, narrow leaves are slightly greyish green in colour and rise from the base of the stem. The plant grows from a bulb. The flowers produce seeds, which when germinated, take five to seven years to produce a flowering plant. (Sexual seed reproduction mixes the traits of both parent flowers, so if garden hybrid cultivars are planted close to wild populations of Narcissus pseudonarcissus, there is a danger that the new seedlings, having hybrid vigour, could out-compete the wild plants.)

"Satellite evidence has revealed that Israeli forces bulldozed part of the Gaza War Cemetery, a site holding the graves of British, Australian and other allied soldiers who died in the first and second world wars. The destruction shows heavy machinery tearing through marked burial plots and memorial areas, flattening headstones that have stood for generations. These were not anonymous sites, but protected war graves maintained under international conventions, representing soldiers who fought and died decades before the modern conflict in Gaza."

--- The wanton damage seems unimportant when put along side Palestinian suffering, but proves again that Israel is a destructive state, out of control.

It knows that Israel is enforcing a system of apartheid - where Palestinians living in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory are treated differently in almost every aspect of life to Jewish Israelis.

It knows that Israel is passing new laws to deepen apartheid - including legislation that imposes the death penalty on Palestinians, but not on Jewish Israelis for the same crime.

It knows that Israel is expanding its illegal settlements across the occupied West Bank, driving Palestinians from their homes.

But instead of taking action, the UK government is satisfied to simply "express our deep concern."

"In August, I [[Guy CHRISTENSEN] was honored along with Ms. Rachel of making it to the “Antisemite of the Week” run by stopantisemitism.org. You speak out for Gaza, and suddenly you’re on a blacklist next to neo-Nazis and white nationalists all because you said Palestinians deserve to live.

That’s what “Antisemite of the Week” is. It’s a propaganda hit list run by Zionist hasbara operatives slapping the same label on preschool educators, Jewish anti-Zionists, and literal fascists because they care more about defending Israel’s image than fighting real antisemitism.

That’s the absurdity and political purpose of these smear campaigns, it’s not to protect Jews, but to shut down criticism of Israeli apartheid by weaponizing identity. It’s sloppy and cynical, the zionist grip is finally losing it’s bite. “Antisemitism” means nothing anymore." --- mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/FMfcgzQdzcrgxRCwXxSfFgTSB...

"Since the so-called ceasefire came into effect in Gaza on October 10, Israel has been consolidating its control of over 50% of Gaza and—according to new research by Forensic Architecture—physically altering the geography of the land. Through a combination of the construction of military infrastructure alongside the destruction of existing buildings, Israel appears to be laying the groundwork to establish a permanent presence in the majority of the Gaza Strip.

Israel has constructed at least 13 new military outposts inside Gaza since the ceasefire—primarily located along the yellow line, in eastern Khan Younis, and near the border with Israel, according to analysis of satellite imagery by Forensic Architecture.

“Israel is doing what it always does, and what it historically has done best: establish ‘facts on the ground,’ incrementally rather than spectacularly, and make them permanent once those with influence to force it to reverse course either lose interest, decide that the cost of confronting Israel is not worth the price, or come out in open support of Israeli violations. Israel is in no rush and prepared to play the long game,” Mouin Rabbani, co-editor of Jadaliyya and a former UN official who worked as a senior analyst on Israel-Palestine for the International Crisis Group, told Drop Site after reviewing a summary of the Forensic Architecture findings." -

La menta borda floreix a l'estiu, entre març i desembre. L'arrel és axonomorfa.

ENGLISH

Nymphaea nouchali, often known by its synonym Nymphaea stellata, or by common names blue lotus, star lotus, red water lily, dwarf aquarium lily, blue water lily, blue star water lily or manel flower, is a water lily of genus Nymphaea. It is native to southern and eastern parts of Asia, and is the national flower of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. In Sanskrit it is utpala. This species is usually considered to include the blue Egyptian lotus N. nouchali var. caerulea. In the past, taxonomic confusion has occurred, with the name Nymphaea nouchali incorrectly applied to Nymphaea pubescens.

This aquatic plant is native in a broad region from Afghanistan, the Indian subcontinent, to Taiwan, southeast Asia, and Australia.[1] It has been long valued as a garden flower in Thailand and Myanmar to decorate ponds and gardens. In its natural state, N. nouchali is found in static or slow-flowing aquatic habitats of low to moderate depth.[citation needed.

Water lily in Thiruvananthapuram

N. nouchali is a day-blooming nonviviparous plant with submerged roots and stems. Part of the leaves are submerged, while others rise slightly above the surface. The leaves are round and green on top; they usually have a darker underside. The floating leaves have undulating edges that give them a crenellated appearance. Their size is about 20–23 cm and their spread is up to 1.5 m from the rhizome.

This water lily has a beautiful flower which is usually violet blue in color with reddish edges. Some varieties have white, purple, mauve, or fuchsia-colored flowers, hence its name red and blue water lily. The flower has four or five sepals and 13-15 petals that have an angular appearance, making the flower look star-shaped from above. The cup-like calyx has a diameter of 4-15 cm.
