This is my first Swoon block I made a bit ago. I wasn't going to make anymore because it is so big and I tend to go more toward smaller, mini things. I do think they are beautiful blocks though so I am going to make more, maybe smaller? Not sure just yet!
To keep mischief makers out, the doors and all of the lower windows were sealed with cinder blocks. Substantial steel plates block the upper windows. On the upper left one of those upper-floor plates was loosened from the inside and removed, allowing light into the far end of the dormitory.

My second block for the Star Light Star Bright quilt along. A little wonkier than my first block, but I'm trying to just take a deep breath and let it go. :)
This is one of the first blocks series I ever created and it is still my favourite. It is also the simplest in concept compared to the second and third derivation of the idea.
Essentially I sampled the four most prevalent colours in an image and drew them as blocks of colour. When viewed at a large size (4 ft wide) the subtle differences in the banding shows up nicely.
I think the less I interfere or try to tweak an image the better off it is. Consequently I find I end up using the first images created by a program rather than any of the multitude of iterations that come afterwards.
I wish I could favourite my own images :)

Here are my blocks for my awesome hive 10 ladies. I used the mosaic block from the Summer Sampler Series run by Faith (Fresh Lemon Quilts) and friends this summer. Love the blocks, and love all the different colors! They're winging their way to the four corners as I type!
Block & tackle on board HMAS Diamantina, Queensland Maritime Museum, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
HMAS Diamantina - named after the Diamantina River in Queensland, is a River-class frigate that served the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Constructed in the mid-1940s, Diamantina was active from 1945 until 1946, was placed in reserve, then was recommissioned as a survey ship from 1959 until 1980.
Following her second decommissioning, the frigate was preserved at the Queensland Maritime Museum as a museum ship. She was the last World War II-era frigate to leave RAN service, and of the 151 River-class frigates constructed for 19 navies worldwide, Diamantina is the only one preserved as a museum ship.

I'm sick of people adding faves and comments, yet when you go and look at their profile, they have no contacts and no photos available. I now block these people automatically. You may want to do the same - they are after private photos, e-mail adresses or want to coax you onto sites you don't want to see.
Add a link to this on your profile page too, so everybody sees it all the time.

BNSF ES44C4 6756 and another GE climb the 0.7 percent grade coming South out of the Big Blue River valley at Beatrice Nebraska with grain empties that will be spotted at the Southeast Nebraska Co-op. The switch into the Co-op is at the North end of the truss bridge over the river that can be seen in the distance. I am near the Marlborough Avenue overpass on the South edge of town about a block from my house.
