On 16 April 2018 a young couple -- Paul Witherspoon and Stephanie Washington -- were chased and halted by Yale and Hamden Police in New Haven, then both shot while still seated in their car. Neither was armed: the police claimed the male occupant was a suspect in a robbery in Hamden but he was later released without charge. Students at Yale and community members were outraged: as the young woman lay in hospital recovering from her wounds this protest was held.
I stumbled upon the demonstration as I riding on a nearby bike trail. I arrived in Connecticut late the previous evening and hadn't heard about the shooting.
Less than a week later a young teen up the road in Wethersfield was shot and killed by an officer, leading to protests statewide. Despite being a resident of the town no action was taken towards the officer. He left the department voluntarily in 2020.
In late 2020 back south, the city of Hamden gave Mr. Witherspoon an undisclosed settlement as a result of the shooting.

Merrimac Butte is an erosional feature on BLM land just north of the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park. The domes in the foreground are formed by the Navajo Sandstone of Jurassic Age. The butte is formed by the overlying Entrada Sandstone, also of Jurassic age. Three members of Entrada are well displayed here: the basal slope-forming Dewey Bridge member, the middle cliff-forming Slick Rock member and the small cap rock of the Moab member. Grütschalp and Mürren are connected by the Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Mürren (BLM). One of the railcars servicing this connection is the BDe4/4 made in 1967.
