A little bit of garden whimsy for the steampunk / Victorian / spider lovers! The flowers of Spring are beautiful, but can sometimes hide a deadly surprise.
Vintage brass cut-link chain is the 'silk' from which ArachneMachina descend upon her prey. A tack pin finding holds her in place, along with the hapless bee she is hunting. Of course, you can stage this scene any way you wish; the bee could merely have a close call, and go on its way, blithely unaware of how close it came to its doom.
The main body of the brooch is comprised of layered brass flowers in green over brass ox, chocolate ox and Russian Goldplate, riveted to a chocolate ox Victorian luggage tag stamping and set with emerald green rhinestones. A large, sturdy brooch pin hold it in place.
The spider is hand crafted by me; her abdomen is one of my hand cast Steampunk resin cabs, choc full of bits & pieces from defunct mechanical watches. Her thorax is a bright green glass cabochon, her armature is vintage brass, meticulously posed and polished to a shine.
The bee is raw brass, given a dark patina and sealed.
