The song

Just spent a few days away visiting Northumberland. We couldn't believe our luck when on the first morning this beautiful sunrise greeted us. Not seen one so intense for a long time.

My thanks to Calum Gladstone for all his helpful advice :)

The north promenade at Bridlington, East Yorkshire is a blaze of glory now that the annual display of foliage has bloomed. It stretches for at least 200 metres.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR VISITS, COMMENTS, AWARDS AND FOR ANY INVITES.

This my youngest grandaughter, Melody, whizzing down a corrugated tube slide that we found at Blaze Farm. She was having a blast on this slide and I managed to get a few fun shots by crouching at the bottom of the tube as she slid down - she knocked me flying a couple of times though because I'm to slow to get out of the way being a grandad and all that!

I played with different exposures - the massive contrast in light between the middle and ends of the tube meant it had to be under or over exposed at some point but I liked the silhouette look with this one. I added some spin blur to heighten the excitement - I also like Lola peering through the gap at the top!

Controlling the Blaze local house fire that is a controlled burn, blazing pretty strong ay this point, shot in North Carolina.

Spring flowers and sunset light - what do you want more :) And I still can't get enough of these amazing flare rays the Helios produces under certain conditions. Hope you like it too!

the Sky looked clear but a massive blaze in BC put a blanket of smoke across the area

The sun is sinking behind the mountain chain of Wetterstein just a bit on the left side of Zugspitze, it's highest mountain. More to the left side the chain gets resumed by the mountains of Karwendel . On the right side and much nearer we can see a part of Mangfallgebirge with the western bavarian pre-alps behind.

The picture was merged from 2 hand held shots taken with the 21mm lens. There was some lens flare with small, coloured circles which I could remove easily in Lightroom. More difficult to handle, a bigger pink transparent blob above the sun, was not managable in that software. I exported the file to Photoshop, copied the picture to a correction layer and removed the disturbing blob and some smaller ones manually by the use of the graphics tablet. In Lightroom, the sky had already been masked and optimized separately before.

Regarding flare corrections: I removed disturbing flare as far as possible, of course there is some flare left if it would have led to artefacts removing it.
