Taken at Featherdale Animal Park, Blacktown not far from where we live.

Rock Wallabies are a small marsupial native to Australia. They are smaller than a Kangaroo. This photo was taken at Featherdale Animal Park, Blacktown which is only around 20 minutes drive from our house. It is a wonderful place for visitors to Sydney to see Australian animals up close.

The Pacific black duck (Anas superciliosa), commonly known as the PBD, is a dabbling duck found in much of Indonesia, New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, and many islands in the southwestern Pacific, reaching to the Caroline Islands in the north and French Polynesia in the east. It is usually called the grey duck in New Zealand, where it is also known by its Maori name, pārera.

Common and familiar across almost the entire Australian continent. Large gray parrot with pink underparts and a light cap. It tends to be noisy and active and is usually close to a water source. Typically feeds on the ground, where it consumes a range of seeds and grasses. Occurs in a wide range of habitats, including urban areas, parks, and gardens. Occurs in pairs, small groups, or enormous flocks.

Crested Pigeon (Ocyphaps lophotes lophotes), Nurragingy Reserve, Blacktown, NSW, Australia

The crested pigeon (Ocyphaps lophotes) is a bird found widely throughout mainland Australia except for the far northern tropical areas. Only two Australian pigeon species possess an erect crest, the crested pigeon and the spinifex pigeon. The crested pigeon is the larger of the two species.

Large, slim waterbird with distinctive long straight bill. Swims snake-like with body submerged, and just its head and neck protruding from the water. A medium to large, gray honeyeater with a black crown, a yellow bill, and a yellow eye patch. Aggressive and territorial; lives in colonies and vigorously defends territories against pretty much anything that moves. Common in urban areas, as well as in many open forested and agricultural landscapes. In inland areas, take note of the black crown; the similar looking Yellow-throated Miner has a pale gray crown. Noisy Miners are distributed across much of eastern Australia.
