The younger daughter of a wealthy cotton manufacturer, Luisa Casati Stampa di Soncino was born in Milan to a life of luxury. During early 20th Century Europe, this femme fatale captivated artists and literati figures alike as her famous eccentricities dominated and delighted European society for nearly three decades.
A great patroness of the arts (in particular the Ballets Russes), Luisa was an extravagant hostess whose soirées at the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni are legendary to this day. Indeed, she was somewhat of a legend amongst her contemporaries. She astonished Venetian society by parading with a pair of leashed cheetahs and wearing live snakes as jewellery.
La Marchesa Casati died in London in 1957 and was fittingly buried wearing not only her black and leopardskin finery but a pair of false eyelashes. As the concept of dandy was expanded in the 20th Century to include women, Luisa fitted the utmost female example by saying, "I want to be a living work of art".
And indeed you were, bella, indeed you were.
Where do I begin to tell my tale of this bejewelled work of art I hold in my hands, so lavishly inspired by the fabulous persona that was the Marchesa Casati?
Perhaps with my signature circlet? In this instance, I've made it larger, adorned it with Natural Pink Sapphire Rondelles and then, on top of this, I added a second circlet with a chain trim. This smaller circlet is prettied up with Rondelles of Green Sapphire, Peruvian Rhodocrosite, Black Spinel and a single Andalusite.
Art Deco swirls continue to make a statement as they hold court to flamboyant waterfalls of fine gems namely:-
>> RARE Champagne Diamond Rondelles
>> Peruvian Rhodocrosite Rondelles
>> Andalusite Rondelles
>> Green Sapphire Rondelles
>> Black Spinel Rondelles
Each luscious cascade culminates in a delicate Peach Moonstone Briolette crowned with either an exquisite Champagne Diamond or an Andalusite, or a Mystic Prasiolite Briolette with Black Spinel.
That centre tassel showcases a magnificent 30mm Labradorite Focal featuring a spectacular Pink Sapphire set within a 14K Solid Yellow Gold Bezel. A tiara of more Black Spinels, Green Sapphires and Brazilian Amethyst sits regally beneath a petite bunch of Madagascar Pink Sapphires and Rhodocrosites.
Here and there, there are subtle inclusions of additional Brazilian Amethyst as well as a pair of very sexy Mystic Black Sapphire Onion Briolettes. Upping the decadent quotient beyond definition is a further swag of Champagne Diamonds.
Another signature Eclettica touch manifests itself along the chains - asymmetrical placements of Faceted Peach Moonstone Rounds and MORE Champagne Diamonds.
By virtue of that nifty adjustable Lobster Claw Clasp, I Want To Be A Living Work Of Art easily extends from 18" to 22.25" whilst her opulent, statement focal measures 5.25" in totality. All wires and chains are 14K Yellow Gold Filled.

I WANT TO BE A LIVING WORK OF ART is part of Eclettica's ECCENTRIC HEIRESSES Collection.
This line actualises my growing obsession with some of the most fascinating (and stylish) women ever. Designs showcased herein will attempt to aesthetically portray their personas. The somewhat mind-boggling ways in which they lived their lives loud and proud, their quirks, their individuality. Basically, the women they were.
And, naturally, every single piece will be fashioned in Eclettica's signature style of intricate wirework and unapologetic flamboyance.
"Pink Lotus" ~ I designed this unique Luxe gemstone pendant necklace around BIG sparklingly clear Rubellite Pink Quartz pear shaped focal briolette that's the color of a beautiful Summer Pink Lotus flower in bloom. I wrapped the gem onto a handcrafted Sterling Silver Bezel that custom fits its shape perfectly and then wire wrapped Mystic Blue Fire Black Spinel beads along the bottom edge to add a cool contrast to that hot pink. The bezel pendant was then hung from an elegant handcrafted Sterling Silver swirled loop bail that allows the Sterling Silver Cable chain to slide freely through it and finished off with a Sterling Silver Lobster Claw clasp. The entire necklace was then oxidized to add a dark patina and polished to add brightened highlights to accentuate the wirework. A truly one-of-a-kind, sophisticated necklace that is sure to be a showpiece of any jewelry collection and lovely gift for you or someone special.

" So I´m back to the velvet underground
Back to the floor that I love
To a room with some lace and paper flowers
Back to the gypsy that I was
To the gypsy ... that I was
And it all comes down to you
Well, you know that it does
And lightning strikes, maybe once, maybe twice
Oh, and it lights up the night
And you see your gypsy
You see your gypsy
To the gypsy that remains
Who faces freedom with a little fear
I have no fear, I have only love
And if I was a child
And the child was enough,
Enough for me to love
Enough to love
She is dancing away from me now
She was just a wish, she was just a wish
And a memory is all that is left for you now
You see your gypsy
You see your gypsy "
Stevie Nicks ~ 1979
Rolling Stone Magazine's "Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll" of the '80s + Eclettica = a neckpiece that's as whimsical and timeless as Ms Nicks remains to this day.
This striking Eclettica adornment pays infinite homage to Stevie in the lavish use of vivid reds, oranges and pinks. Additionally, the precisely-coiled swirls (which have been positioned in delightful disarray); lithe length as well as asymmetrical placements of gems only serve to up that bohemian gypsy ante so synonymous with the singer's style.
The gemstones I've incorporated into this design are:-
>> 22mm Kenyan Natural Pink Ruby Focal
>> GEM GRADE Sunstones
>> GEM GRAFE Green Tourmaline Slices
>> RARE Ruby Moonstones
>> AAA Yellow Songea Sapphire
>> Blood Red Ruby Rounds
>> Black Spinel
>> Green Onyx
>> Chrysoprase
>> Fuchsia Chalcedony
>> Peridot
>> White Seed Pearls
As clearly evident, 999 Fine as well as 925 Sterling Silver Wires have been used with a liberal hand here, gloriously accompanied by 925 Sterling Silver Chains.
With a pendant drop just shy of 3.5", SUNSET BOULEVARD GYPSY currently adjusts from 20.25" to about 23". If you'd like her to drape longer still, just say the word.

This piece was originally created back in 2009 and it has taken me all this time to complete it. It originally started life as a cuff ... but it was not to be. Introducting 'Peeper'.
Peeping from within a carpet of swaying Swarovski crystals is a vintage porcelain doll face. Peeper is surrounded by lots of Swarovski crystals 2mm (Golden Shadow) and 3mm (Jet)beads. The circular frame has been created using polymer clay, the textured surface of the frame has been highlighted with wax metallic paints to give it a lovely soft faux aged patina.
The circumference of the pendant has been beadwoven using peyote stitch, Delicas and Toho Treasure glass cylinder beads. The beading gently wraps around to the reverse of the pendant which has been sealed with fawn coloured Ultrasuede.
The necklace strap has been created using hard to source, smooth glossy Black Spinel tumbled gemstone beads, small faceted Onyx gemstone beads and facted glass beads. The clasp has been beadwoven and showcases two Swarovski 6mm bicones in Jet.
The Peeper Pendant is 6cm across or approx 2inches.. the necklace strap is 25cms or just over 9.5 inches
Leader of the 'Egyptians', or Gypsies, in Scotland, Johnny Faa of Dunbar was granted (by way of a letter under Privy Seal from King James IV in February 1540) authority over all Gypsies in Scotland. The same missive called upon all sheriffs in the country to assist him "in executione of justice upoun his company and folkis", who were to "conforme to the lawis of Egipt". However, Mr Faa isn't famed for such dominance, nay, dear Johnnie is known for his role in the tragic tale of "The Countess and the Gypsy".
The story runs that Faa, styled King of the Gypsies, ran away with a Countess of Cassillis. Her enraged husband caught up with them at a ford over the Doon, still called the Gypsies’ Steps. Thereat, he hung Faa and his followers from a Dule Tree on a mound in front of the Castle Gate at Cassillis while his wife was forced to watch from an upstairs room. He then imprisoned her in Maybole Castle for the rest of her life. The Earl supposedly also constructed an oriel window facing the place of execution and an outside staircase decorated with carvings of the faces of her lover and his gallant band, and then married again while his wife was imprisoned.
Oooooh. Such scandal. Such intrigue. What a strong-willed and beautiful woman the Countess must have been and, no doubt, bent on getting her way. As for Johnnie Faa ~ he of the colourful and determined personality, dying for the love of his life. So romantic! I've attempted to actualise the drama and darkness of this tale with these stunning danglers!!
Having evolved somewhat, my signature Butterfly shapes swirl beautifully from your lobes, bedecked as they are with (all GEM QUALITY) Organic Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Slabs + Natural Columbian Emeralds + Vesuvianites + Brazilian Blue Apatites + London Blue Topaz + RARE Greenish Blue Rubies + Black Spinel (coated with Genuine Crushed Black Diamond Dust).
Wires used are a marriage of 999 Fine and 925 Sterling Silver, sublimely accented with delicate Bali Silver Chains. They drop a very wearable 2.5" from intricate Ear Posts set with Peridot Cabochons and measure no more than 1.25" at their most curvaceous.

Handmade polymer clay pendant & tubes; lava rock rounds; red coral nuggets; faceted black spinel; ss daisy spacers & beads; brushed silver flower clasp; ss findings.
Polymer clay pendant & tubes from Pati Bannister; lava rock, black spinel & red coral from Cat Dancing Ranch; brushed ss flower toggle from High Tide Beads, Hilton Head Island, SC.
When I first saw this pendant from the very talented Pati several months ago, I fell in love with it and immediately ordered it from her Etsy shop. Here's the way she describes the pendant: "As bright and pretty as summer, this poppy pendant inspired by the vibrant paintings of Gustav Klimt is a winner with summer white and a great tan". I totally agree!!! I wanted to design something bold but not overpowering. And, since the black of the pendant is a matte finish, continue the use matte black with the lava rock.
Whoops! It wasn't until I took a close look at this photo that I realized I forgot to add a black spinel rondelle on the end of one of the coral clusters ): Back to work!
Composition:
---14k gold-filled wire
---Sterling and fine silver wire
---Micro-facted black spinel rondelles
---Sterling silver stardust beads
Measurement: 2 1/8 inches from the top of ring bail

"She was surrounded in the solitude of the wilderness, by Sakuntas (birds),
Therefore, hath she been named by me Sakuntala (bird-protected)"
Inspired by the play, Sakuntala (penned by India's great early poet, Kalidasa) tells the tale of the beautiful maiden Shakuntala and King Dushyanta. Set along the banks of river Malini, their love story began when the King caught sight of her as he traversed the forest, hunting for deer, and fell instantly in love. Together, they had a son named Bharata who made a sport of opening the mouths of tigers and lions, and counting their teeth.
These gorgeous danglers are my tactile rendition of this poetic romance.
Evocative of the rich tapestry of colours so synonymous with Indian culture, SHAKUNTALA is an epic performance of only the BEST gemstones I could unearth.
> GEM GRADE Zambian Emerald Rondelles (stunning)
> GEM GRADE IMPOSSIBLY RARE LAVENDER OPAL Briolettes
> PREMIUM GRADE Moss Amethyst Briolettes
> PREMIUM GRADE Mystic Topaz Briolettes
> Gorgeous AFRICAN Ruby Marquis Briolettes
> PREMIUM GRADE Translucent Pink Sapphire Rondelles
> Black Spinel Rondelles coated with GENUINE BLACK DIAMOND DUST
> GEM GRADE Mystic Black Sapphire Rondelles (see that flash?)
All of which dangle from exquisite 14K Gold Filled Ear Hooks set with Genuine Amethyst Bezels. And yes, the chains are a mix this time ... a very fetching combination of Yellow Gold Filled contrasting beautifully with Dark Oxidised Sterling Silver.
SHAKUNTALA drops a visually opulent 2" from those pretty Ear Hooks and is yet exceedingly lithe on the lobes.

Inspired once again by all things intoxicating, this heady treat is so called Bubblegum as its palette inclines heavily towards the Lolita-esque allure of a cocktail of the same name. Plus, I love love love this particular combination of colours (as some of you well know!!).
The kaleidoscope I've chosen for my own "shaken and stirred" shot of Bubblegum is comprised of:-
> Polished Pyrope Red Garnet
> Pink Sapphire
> Polished Sunstone
> Polished Cherry Garnet
> Citrine
> Faceted Sunstone
> Black Spinel
> Polished Sunstone
> Black Onyx
> Super Rare Black Sapphire
Petite and lightweight in physical proportions but a compelling and luscious feast for the eyes nonetheless, Bubblegum features a procession of chic clusters leading up the neckline. These are comprised of Smooth Sunstone Ovals linked up with profusions of Black Spinel, Citrine and teeny tiny Garnet Rounds. To ensure optimal contrast, several Faceted Sunstone Rondelles have also been added into the mix.
Nearer to the centrepiece, a bevy of draping chains adds interest and punk princess charm as it cavorts shamelessly with Black Onyx, Burmese Rubies and Sunstones. All these lead towards the most HEDONISTIC Black Sapphire Focal ever!! This eighth wonder of the world weighs an intense 57 Carats and measures a jawdropping 29mm (this is my smallest incidentally :P). Tell that to pundits who claim size doesn't matter!!!
The epitome of wearable lush, Bubblegum measures 19" in length, and this is adjustable all the way to 22.25". She secures with an 18K Gold Filled Lobster Claw Clasp which has, in turn, been adorned with a duo of gem charms namely a generously-sized Polished Sunstone Briolette as well as a sexy Polished Pyrope Red Garnet Briolette.

One of the earliest femme fatales to have ever been recorded, Lucrezia Borgia was the daughter of Rodrigo Borgia, the powerful Renaissance Valencian who later became Pope Alexander VI. Her family later came to epitomise the ruthless Machiavellian politics and sexual corruption alleged to be characteristic of the Renaissance Papacy. Lucrezia herself was cast as a femme fatale, a role she has been portrayed as, in numerous artworks, novels and films.
In fact, it is even rumoured that Lucrezia was in possession of a hollow ring she used frequently to poison drinks. I wouldn't want to get on her bad side.
My necklace is a study in femme fatale disarray with lavish accents of theatrical pageantry thrown in for good measure. Rather like my muse.
AN HEIRLOOM Brazilian Amethyst Focal - superbly, flawless, magnificently finished and voluptuous at 40mm, 50 Carats - instantly captivates. She stands proud amidst sensual curtains of Mystic Purple Amethyst, Black Spinel, Rhodolite Garnet, petite Amethyst and Mystic Labradorite with schiller so strong you could spot the shine from a mile away.
These waterfalls of gems cascade artfully from drapes and swages of chains with Labradorites + Amethyst *bridges* which have been tenderly woven together with yet more clusters of Rondelles of Black Spinel as well as Mystic Labradorite. And that single spot of colour? A Blood Red African Ruby Rondelle.
This piece is a true COLLECTIBLE.
Bejewelled in the most sublime fashion possible, Portrait Of Lucrezia Borgia measures a length of 20.5", this being adjustable up to 22.25". Her magnificent pendant portion is a luscious 4.75".

Inspired by an eight title novel series of the same name, penned by Marjorie W Sharmat. Need I really say more?? :)
Girly clusters of teeny weeny White Seed Pearls flirt coyly alongside equally petite Black Spinel Rondelles from a hand-fashioned Diamond featuring delicate lace-like weaves. Dotting the sides are perhaps the *most* exquisite Zircons I've ever laid eyes upon. These sparkle so wonderfully, with such translucency and beauty, they babies could easily be mistaken for Brown Diamonds. Truly.
Divine Polished Labradorite Rounds do their flash-show thingy with blue streaks as these lithe waterfalls culminate in crisp Rock Crystal Quartz in a spanking Pentagon Shape.
And what would something baptised as Sorority Sisters be without a dash of eye-popping Pink Chalcedony Cubes? Molly Ringwald herself would approve.
Sorority Sisters cascades a 2.75" drop from feminine Bali Silver Ear Posts featuring Pearls in an ethereal Silver. All wires used are 999 Fine Silver whilst chains are 925 Sterling Silver.

We're all familiar with Thumbelina (or, as they say in Danish, Tommelise), a Hans Christian Andersen classic but my earrings were inspired by a 1994 American animated film directed by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman.
I particularly enjoyed it for the songs composed by non other than Mr Copacabana himself, Barry Manilow. So fun and full of life and moxy!!!
Those were the traits I tried to encapsulate within her namesake earrings, Thumbelina.
Petite they may be, these pretties pack a major visual WOW that's barely captured in photos. Signature Eclettica Butterfly Frames, this time in 14K Rose Gold Filled, have been adorned with processions of Polished Garnet Rounds.
Visually representing Thumbelina, Jacquimo and Berkeley Beetle, we've got a ménage à trois of stunning gemstones namely oh so fabulous Magenta Red Topaz crowned with a Pink Tourmaline, vivid Vesuvianite with Garnet, and absolutely opulent Pyrite with Black Spinel.
The sides have been further trimmed with teeny tiny Seed Pearls and gem grade Spessartine Garnet.
Maximum lush.
Unapologetically feminine, Thumbelina measures no more than 1 5/8". Her Shepherd's Hooks are also in 14K Rose Gold Filled and feature more Black Spinel as well as final touches of Pink Tourmaline.

Something for a drama queen - wich I guess a GOTHIC BRIDE would be...:)

The "Zelda Earrings" feature two large, faceted chrysoprase briolettes that I have accented with cascading tendrils of smooth-polished opal rondelles, faceted champagne zircon rondelles, faceted silver pyrite rondelles, tiny faceted black spinel rondelles, and rare zebra garnet rondelles. These dramatic, Roaring Twenties treasures also have accents of antique/upcycled carved Victorian bone, mixed metals of rose gold, oxidized silver, and feature antique/upcycled 1920's marcasite ear posts.
The Zelda Earrings are absolutely one-of-a-kind and hang just slightly over 2 1/2 inches long.
When I first began wrestling with wires in November 2007 (read: wire-wrapping), my first piece was a pair of asymmetrical earrings. Not by choice but borne out of necessity because I simply couldn't make both sides identical. Yes, my eyes were rolling then too, amidst some massive hair-pulling and wire smashing, I admit. After that, I started making more asymmetrical earrings because they were just so much fun!
Now, after 6 months of playing ring-a-round-o-rosey with wires and pliers, it appears I've come back full circle with these uneven babies :) it seems fitting, yes?
