As those that follow my stream know Bahbahra may be a cheeky and inquisitive little thing at times, but she also is a very caring little sheep, and when she saw Kenny the Kiwi up the tree today she suddenly felt that it was up to her to save him, so off she went climbing the tree, but as we all know Sheep are not good tree climbers, and alas she slipped and was hanging just by her rear legs, and before Kenny could get down to catch her she fell head first to the ground.

Fortunately though the ground was quite soft and being the clever Kiwi that Kenny is, he is first aid trained and was able to patch Bahbahra up and give her a cuddle to try and make her feel better.

Footnote:

These shots were all staged for todays www.Photochallenge.org Challenge of Pain and no sheep were injured in the making of this image :)

Decided to continue the saga's of Bahbahra today and have a bit if fun

Possibly the last one from a very successful morning in the Highlands of Scotland... I have had 11 decent shots from about five hours work... not a bad ratio, although the main stars are the land, the weather and the wonderful light in the Highlands on this morning...

Kombolói or kompoloi is a part of modern Greek culture, used to relieve stress and generally pass the time.... The origin of the Greek komboloi is debated. It may derive from the komboskini used by Orthodox monks or the Islamic Misbaha. Armenians also have their own worry beads which serve the same purpose as the komboloi and are also non-religious in nature....

Every time I cross this bridge I think to myself I want to photograph this from this view, so... one day I did just that. I know the 1st one has too much space on the bottom but it made me feel looking at it like I was lying on the road to get the shot. #3 feels like I am going up a roller coaster. I really like the lines of the bridge & looks really cool when you drive over it.

I changed these to an aged kind of old Newspaper look.

Good Defeats Evil is a sculpture that combines traditional-style bronze work with a more contemporary material--American and Soviet missles. "Good" is represented by a depiction of St. George, who is astride a rearing horse. In his right hand he holds an enormous spear, with which he is slaying a writhing dragon, representing "Evil." The dragon lifts his head with one last attempt at resurgence, but it is clear that this is the dragon's last breath: the dragon's body, which is made of an American Pershing II missile and a Soviet SS20 missile, has been torn apart by St. George's spear."

Jim & I recently took at extended trip along the eastern Sierras and into Death Valley National Park. First, we spent a day in Lone Pine. Where we explored the Alabama Hills and the various mountains peaking out of storm clouds. After our first sunrise, we hung around the trail head to mount Whitney before driving north to Bishop. Quickly, we realized that we were lucky that the moon was going to set above Mount Muir and the Keeler Needle. Maybe next time, the moon will be full... oh well.

This is the first of many images from our eastern Sierras and Death Valley getaway. Stay Tuned.

Todays challenge on www.photochallenge.org/ was "Bowl"

Now I thought after my last couple of posts being A. not that Healthy and B, not good for those dieting I would go for something healthier today.

Well lets be honest I resorted to doing a shot in my lightbox as I didnt get a bowl shot when we went out today , but this is fruit from our fridge and a lot healthier than bacon and eggs.

I am sure if I had taken more time I could have got this a lot better but just got home a short while ago and the evening is ticking on so did this quickly

We went for a walk to our local Mall today to pick up a few things and then decided to go and catch a movie, we decided on seeing 2012 which i wont say antyhing about to for those that havent seen it but I thought it was a good movie well worth watching

I'm real sorry, but due to my very busy personal life at this moment, I'm unable to

comment on your streams regurarly, I might drop by for the speedy fave or so.

I'm aware that this commenting is part of the flickr experience and that we all enjoy

getting comments so it's more than normal to spend some time commenting on other peoples work. You might have noticed my absence and not so frequent posting nowadays, I really would like to be able to give more back to the community but some things are more important in life for me right now.

I'm not sure when this situation will get back to 'normal' but I reckon it could well be

a year from now.

I will be posting some more shots, I've already cut down on the photography bit as well but will not stop doing that, every now and then I can't go by a 'golden opportunity'.

I will understand that this will make the views, comments and faves that I received drop, well they have already.

I will still try to anwser any question you ask me in mail or on my shots (preferably).

I hope you do understand that I have not stopped visiting your stream due to lack of interest just lack of time.

The Stone Arch Bridge, crossing the Callicon Creek in Kenoza Lake is one of Sullivan County's most famous structures. It was built by German and Swiss stonemasons around 1880.

It is considered to be one of Sullivan County's most famous structures on the National Register of Historic Places.

One of the few hex murders on record was committed in Sullivan County on the bridge in 1882 . As the story goes, a hex was placed on Adam Heidt which had caused him suffering and pain through most of his life, to end his agony and suffering, A Man Named Joseph decided to murder George Markert, the man that was claimed to have put the curse on Adam. For him, this was the only way he knew how to break the curse. One night, while Markert was walking along the bridge, Joseph shot Markert in the head five times, clubbed him with his own heavy chair leg that he used to use, as a cane, and then proceeded to dump Markert's body off the bridge down into the icy waters. Joseph was convicted of murder and spent several years in prison. Adam claimed he had a full recovery suddenly of all the suffering and pain. There were reported sitings of a ghost walking the bridge, who knows?, it might have been George Markert.

for those of you that recognise this shot, it is not a crop... and I am not usually one to repeat shots... I always take a landscape and portrait of all my shots... this was the next shot in sequence from the one previously posted...

I post this as I have had some comments on composition about the landscape version of this shot, some people like the symmetry, whereas some like the lack of symmetry, so this is the question I am asking with this shot, portrait or landscape mode?... symmetry, or lack of symmetry? personally, I prefer portrait, but it seems from the views and favourites of all my shots that landscape format wins!!... is it more pleasing , more acceptable or just that it is easier and cheaper to frame?!... actually, my most favourite is Square, but we dont want to go into that...lol

From my 2005 collection.

USS Lexington, known as "The Blue Ghost", is one of 24 Essex-class aircraft carriers built during World War II for the United States Navy. The ship, the fifth US Navy ship to bear the name, is named in honor of the Revolutionary War Battle of Lexington. She was originally to have been named Cabot, but she was renamed while under construction to commemorate USS Lexington (CV-2), lost in the Battle of the Coral Sea in May 1942.

Lexington was commissioned in February 1943, and served in several campaigns in the Pacific Theater of Operations, receiving the Presidential Unit Citation and 11 battle stars for World War II service. Like many of her sister ships, Lexington was decommissioned shortly after the end of the war, but was modernized and reactivated in the early 1950s, being reclassified as an attack carrier (CVA), and then an antisubmarine carrier (CVS). In her second career, she operated both in the Atlantic/Mediterranean and the Pacific, but spent most of her time, nearly 30 years, on the east coast as a training carrier (CVT).

She was decommissioned in 1991, remaining active longer than any other Essex-class ship, and was donated for use as a museum ship in Corpus Christi, Texas. Lexington was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2003.

Mt Kirkjufell (463m) is a beautifully shaped and a symmetric, free standing mountain on the northern coastline of the Snaefell’s Peninsula to the west of the Grundarfiord Bay. It is a save challenge for mountaineers with some experience despite some fatal accidents in the past. To its west is another free standing mountain, Stodin. Both mountains are totally severred from the peninsula’s mountain massif. The creation of these mountains can be traced to the latest cold epoch of the ice age, when the glaciers and their rivers were seriously carving out the landscape. The landscape of the northern part of the peninsula was gradually shaped during the last one million years. Danish seafarers, who frequented this part of the country in the past, called Mt Kirkjufell “The Sugar Top”.

Opeth's - Porcelain Heart

I lost all I had (that April day),

I turned to my friends (nothing to say),

I wrote down a name (and read it twice),

I wallowed in shame.

I said that I loved (eternal schemes),

I cling to my past (like childish dreams)

I promised to stay (and held my breath)

I went far away.

Icy roads beneath my feet,

Lead me through wastelands of deceit,

Rest your head now, don't you cry,

Don't ever ask the reason why

Kept inside our idle race

Ghost of an idol's false embrace

Rest your head now, don't you cry

Don't ever ask the reasons why.

Natural ice in the Netherlands is a rare occurrence. In fact, some winters there's no natural ice at all. Maybe that explains why the Dutch love to skate outdoors. They hardly ever get the chance! But when a cold wave hits, and the interconnected maze of canals, rivers and lakes freeze over, it's a spontaneous celebration, a national holiday. Businesses close their doors and everyone goes skating.

The Alblasserwaard tour starts in the town of Kinderdijk, a tourist mecca famous for its windmills. (Molentocht means windmill tour.) The Krimpenerwaard is one of the oldest polders in Holland, dotted with ancient villages, and you can skate through nine of them in a day. (Negendorpentocht means Nine Villages Tour.) You can read about the area's history in this Krimpenerwaard site.

Aside from the scenery, the joys of Dutch skating are the companionship of other skaters, and the delicious food served up along the canals. With so many skaters on the ice, you're guaranteed to find someone who skates at your speed, and gets hungry or thirsty with the same regularity.

We continuing our journey from Bolaven Plateau to Champasak - Southern Laos near the Cambodian border, some 200 km from Angkor Wat and about a one hour drive from Pakse. There is undoubtedly a growing tourist trail in Laos, but that just means there’s plenty of roads. After all, half the fun of traveling here is in the travel itself – the people you meet, chickens you share seats with, wrong turns you take and lào-láo you drink with the smiling family at the end of the road less traveled. We started in Tad Fane by local bus. Local buses in Laos are a truly unique experience. As a westerner you'll never get the opportunity to pay the local price but the benefit is that you're almost always guaranteed an actual seat. Busses in Laos are packed quite literally to the rafters. People sit 3 to a seat, or if there is no room stand in the aisles or sit on crates of Beer Lao which every local bus seems to have a sideline delivering. Strapped to the roof we have seen ; bags of rice, motorbikes, chickens with their feet cruelly bound and yet more Beer Lao. You can forget about air-con, some buses may have a rusty fan attached to the ceiling, but more often than not all the windows are wedged open, which doubles up as a solution to motion sickness. Basically Laos is not the best place in the world to be if you are impatient or in a hurry. We have had a 50 km journey which took us more than 2.5 hours. Your best bet is to sit back should you have a backrest and enjoy the fabulous scenery and rural life. At Houay Sae we had get out of the bus. Here we had to go on another 30km southward- route 13. Since there were no local buses we had to take the local Tuk Tuk. Well of-course not before we negotiate the right price. To get the right price remember to negotiate with a smile.

Photo of my wife Kanitha negotiating tuktuk taxi price at Houay Sae - route13. The Belgium girl Carolien (on the right) and girlfriend Helen are luckily joining us.

Waardoor we eigenlijk Champasak voorbij reden. We hadden zelfs het idee dat Champasak een groot stadje was, maar was niet meer dan wat huizen aan één weg. Uiteindelijk toch bij plaats van bestemming gekomen en accommodatie gevonden.

Todays challenge on www.photochallenge.org/ was "Face"

I didnt want to scare anyone by posting a shot of my face, did consider getting a shot of our cat Sefidi's face, but the day disapeared on me, we popped out tto the Mall to pick up a few last things before our trip, and Low and behold when we came out to come home it was snowing more than the few flakes I thought we might get, apparently we could get a couple of inches.

So when I got home I dug out my bag of watches, and took a shot of a few of them, and this one came out the best, and as for bag of watches, I used to travel maybe 3 to 8 times a year on average for a while and when I was stuck in an airport for a stopover for to long I would get bored and look at watches and sunglasses, hence I must have over 30 of each, Guess I can use them if ever the theme of a challenge is Excess I could use them LOL
