The original complaints were about the unfairness of only choosing photos from a relatively small handful of people who worked very hard to achieve success.
Now the donkey chooses photos with very few views, comments and faves. Good luck to the chosen ones! I'm happy for their success. But the current system is no fairer than the previous one.
Censorship is wrong and should be opposed.
It strikes me that flickr's current policy of encouraging people NOT to comment or fave is commercial suicide - surely the whole point of this organisation is to encourage interaction, not inaction.

2009 Challenge, Day 283: BUBBLES
Few of us belonging to photographic society at work, we got together for a photowalk. Central Park was a good choice and we had fun shooting some interesting scenes and nature. One of the shots fits today's photochallengeBUBBLES. Kids were having fun running and popping the bubbles, the performer was having fun, parents were delighted, tourists, photographers and us were shooting like there is no tomorrow!!! and me!!! ayiayaya, my feet are killing me just because I forgot to wear my sneakers and was on heels, but feet should understand this is a photoshoot?!!! don't you think? LOL!! Now, I have to sit home till they relax, or should I take a shot and post, Explore likes toes!! hahahahaha!!!!
Talking about EXPLORE!!! have you browsed it lately? Used to be a creative and artistic 500 group, now!!! I don't know, of course sometimes my posts make the group nothing to go banana about, I used to be thrilled now???....!!!! If you feel that Explore is unfair to you why don't you join

Black sunday 12/8/13-- am participating in sympathy for those who don't have high speed internet access and therefore had been squeezed out by the first big change. I am participating but will comment on pics that you add, since not everyone feels as strongly about this. i fear that we'll lose even more with the newest proposed and suggested beta changes. A huge portion of the beauty of this awesome community is the discussion and passion for photography and our photographs. Make no mistake, the pictures are central-- we are not facebook, we are a community of artists in the photographic medium, who choose to support one another!!

A black day for flickr and for photographers around the world
I understand that the bosses at flickr have decided to force everyone down the route of the "new photo experience" with its ugly sidebar. This in my view seriously compromises the ability of flickr to host serious photography.
I have not yet decided whether I will stay or give up on flickr entirely. But I will certainly join with others in trying to make my voice heard. The new flickr sidebar is a disaster, and I am amazed that it is to be foisted on so many loyal customers who are so passionately opposed to it.
I hope that as many people as possible will join in the 'black day' protest tomorrow, 8th December 2013. Try a search for "flickr black day".

Though some changes of the new interface are good, I always go back to the old layout (as long as it is possible), since it works much easier to give comments to pictures, to view other comments and to view other photo information.
Therefore, I ask you to please change Flickr back to its old style. The new style is incredibly poorly done and some of even had no chance to opt out or even pick between the new and old style.

I have uploaded this picture to protest against the upcoming changes. Once again Flickr will soon have altered to the worse.
Therefore I seriously consider to switch to a different photo community. As the persons responsible at Flickr obviously don't give a shit about the opinion of the Flickr users, it may soon come the time for me to move to a site, where the wishes of the users are heard and answered.
If you still shouldn't know, what I'm talking about, here are two links, which give explanations:

I DON'T WANT the new Flickr layout (Beta version) where:
- the cramped comment box appears as a column to the right hand side of the page;
- pictures with descriptions will have just a part (one line) of the text visible;
- just few comments will show and it steals the facility for friendly interaction between contacts;
- with the cramped comment area, group activities will be severely affected that awards or group invites wouldn't appear as you wish;
- the pictures in thumbnail size appears compressed and zoomed in. That is, if I display a portrait; all you can see is the subjects nose and lips, in thumb nail size;
- if you upload pictures in small size, they will appear unproportionately stuck to the top of the screen;
- the 100mm wide column on the right side has to accommodate the users name, buddy icon, title of the picture, description, number of views, date, sets, fave star, number of comments, share this photo, three dots indicating 'more' ( drop down menu ), a 5mm narrow strip as comment box, space for 3-4 comments and symbols for copyright information / groups ( can display 6 groups ) / tags.

You can upload this image and post it any day before 8th December. Even now, because it will help spread the word. But be sure that you change the upload date to Dec 8th or upload fresh on December 8th.

Esta es una protesta simbólica a Flickr con la versión Beta que quieren iniciar el 8 de diciembre. Con los cambios recientes en Flickr somos todos muy decepcionados ! El sitio ya no es divertido como lo era antes , con muchas dificultades para seguir las fotos, los grupos y Cett , y funciona también muy lento!
Con la nueva versión Beta de todo lo que ves ahora - va a desaparecer ! Habrá sólo la imagen y un poco de información.
Los iconos de premios ya no serán visibles. Esto significa para los administradores y otros miembros que no podrán acceder directamente a los grupos, y que ya no puede ser controlado (y que será difícil de comprobar los premios ( premios, comentario ).
Seguro de Flickr no va a cambiar sus planes, incluso si protestamos, pero hagamos todo lo posible para dejar claro que no estamos de acuerdo.

Con la nueva plataforma Beta Flickr, el equipo tiene la intención de hacer más cambios que van a limitar severamente los intercambios entre los usuarios :
1 - No habrá ningún espacio en blanco debajo de la foto para descripciones, comentarios o invitaciones a grupos
2 - Es difícil escribir un comentario que contiene más de 3 palabras
3 - No podemos ver quien apoya nuestras fotos
4 - No podemos ver si la foto aparece en los otros grupos
5 - Las imágenes de la adjudicación no serán visibles
6 - Las llamadas ya no serán visibles, solo la última aparecerá en Actividad reciente, las de más se perderán.
7 - Para administración será imposible gestionar grupos para los que muchos se cerrará.
8 - Nuestras descripciones , incluyendo citas, enlaces a YouTube u otros sitios se ocultarán.
9.- No se podrán añadir notas y las que hay desaparecerán
10.- Desaparece la posibilidad de "administrador invita".
La nueva experiencia beta es totalmente aburrido, muy difícil de manejar y una especie de tortura.

well, here is my little protest about the new flickr design. most of it, I am okay with but the new comments and descriptions are just insane. showing only 4(go home yahoo, you are drunk) comments at a time, in reverse chronological order completely removes the last possibility of having a conversation in the comments, most of which they already removed in the last update with the 10 comment cap. also, removing the possibility of adding pictures to the comments, and the description being chopped to 3 lines makes it impossible to tell a story with your photograph. it is like they have decided to make a mobile version of the site the only version there is.
in what art gallery do they put the plaques on the mattes of the images? nothing wrong with scrolling folks, put the comments where they belong, under the photo.
