Black-capped Chickadees such as this little cute little character are quite common, curious and unafraid of humans. They are always looking for a handout, it seems, and will take bird seed out of your hand if you give them the chance.

An interesting fact from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology: "The Black-capped Chickadee hides seeds and other food items to eat later. Each item is placed in a different spot and the chickadee can remember thousands of hiding places."

This black-capped chickadee flew to this blackberry vine right in front of me.

These cute little characters are year-round residents of the Northern United States and Canada, and are plentiful around many nature centers in Michigan where this image was captured. They are generally curious and unafraid, and will readily eat birdseed out of the hand of a person holding it.

HSS!

When the stem drooped over, this little Chickadee didn't let go of the seed head that it had landed on; it just hung on and kept pecking away from an inverted position.

This black-capped chickadee was enjoying the plum blossoms a few weeks ago. They've now all dropped off (the plum blossoms, that is!), even before official Spring!

I never get bored of photographing these fun and friendly beauties.

This black-capped chickadee was working through the branches of a tree near me, apparently not perturbed by my presence. Fine with me!!!

The morning sun casts a shadow behind this little black capped chickadee who is shadowing me on a morning stroll along the Bow River in the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in Calgary Alberta.

BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE

I tend to ignore them as subjects because they are so common, but I always appreciate their cheery presence especially on very cold days like today.
