Podabrus pruinosus, the downy leather-winged beetle, is a species of soldier beetle in the family Cantharidae. It is found in North America. Soldier Beetles are great aphid hunters, helping gardeners control pest populations that often undermine food harvests and ornamental displays.

For Crazy Tuesday's Song Title Theme.
The Red & The Black is a song by one of my favourite bands growing up, Blue Oyster Cult.
It is also a song title by Iron Maiden. And apparently a song from Les Miserables, but I've never heard that. Popular title it seems.
So, I wanted to try the iPad/Lensball photography thing for a while now & finally got around to it. That's my iPad providing the light with a bright red screen at back and the lens ball in front, taken in a totally dark garage. It is quite addictive, and I have many shots with backgrounds ranging from a single colour, to some of my landscape shots, to some fractals generated in apps, all with differing angles through the Lensball. Think I'm addicted, there will be more ;)
Hit "L" to be absorbed into the red and black , if you dare 👹

It's a nice night for a black wedding
New RP characters get new weddings. I don't make the rules! Dorian was happy to give me the black wedding I had desired just to make things a little different. ♥

Graphosoma lineatum
The Striped Shieldbug is easily identified. It is a black bug with five distinct red lines on the pronotum. Or the other way around if you want... On the underside the Striped Shieldbug is red as well, but here it has black spots, not lines. Even though it is closely related to the Green Stinkbug and other foul smelling bugs, the Striped Shieldbug rather smells like apples. The taste however apparently appals all birds. In the Mediterranean there is another black and red species called Graphosoma semipunctatum. It is very similar except that on the pronotum it has 10 black dots, rather than lines. The larvae of the Striped Shieldbug are brownish and less conspicuous. Still it is not difficult to identify them, for a broad light line runs from the nose backwards to the end of the scutellum. The Striped Shieldbug is between 8 and 12mm long.
The eggs are being laid in spring. Larvae can be seen from June to September. In July the first adults may appear. This means that during most of summer and the beginning of autumn the animals may be seen in all stages of life, often in small groups. When the weather is bad as well as during hibernation the adults seek shelter, usually in crevices of trees. Both the larvae and the adults are fond of plants in the Carrot Family (Apiaceae), like the Wild Carrot and Chervils. Even though most of their food is obtained by sucking on plants, the nymphs will occasionally suck on larvae of other insects. The Striped Shield Bug is in hibernation for a rather long period of time: the animals are rarely seen from October to May.

“Someone stole my wallet last week. The guy called me up and he was mad at me. He was like "you gotta get your finances together. You got no cash; your credit cards are maxed out. You don’t even have minutes on your calling card. I had to use my card to call you.'” ~ Mike Birbiglia

In real this butterfly much more beautiful... I don't know the name of this but love the colour and beauty....
Amargura dorada en el paisaje.
El corazón escucha.
En la tristeza húmeda el viento dijo:
Yo soy todo de estrellas derretidas,
sangre del infinito.
Con mi roce descubro los colores
de los fondos dormidos.
Voy herido de místicas miradas,
yo llevo los suspiros
en burbujas de sangre invisibles
hacia el sereno triunfo
del amor inmortal lleno de Noche.
Me conocen los niños,
y me cuajo en tristezas.
Sobre cuentos de reinas y castillos,
soy copa de luz. Soy incensario
Soportamos tristezas
al borde del camino.
Sabemos de las flores de los bosques,
del canto monocorde de los grillos,
de la lira sin cuerdas que pulsamos,
del oculto sendero que seguimos.
Nuestro ideal no llega a las estrellas,
es sereno, sencillo:
quisiéramos hacer miel, como abejas,
o tener dulce voz o fuerte grito,
Vosotros me inventasteis corazones,
Y el corazón:
¡Dios mío!
El otoño ha dejado ya sin hojas
los álamos del río.
El agua ha adormecido en plata vieja
al polvo del camino.
Los gusanos se hunden soñolientos
en sus hogares fríos.
El águila se pierde en la montaña;
