There's a bit of a large patch of some forgotten part of the garden where lots of Foxtail Barley grows and it's all become golden and yellow and so I ventured into the patch this morning with my camera. Got half-bitten to death by mosquitoes in the process; suffering for my art! :-))
Taken at the edge of a lake In Exeter. I was photographing the damsel which was eating a fly! It then got taken by the spider after flying into it's web! The damsel still has the meal in it's mouth too!
It might be cute, but this Asian ladybug is the type of ladybug that bites, no kidding! Their bite hurts and this I know to be true because I have been bitten more than once by them. Also, they can secrete a strong-smelling yellowish liquid from the joints of their legs which can stain light-coloured material. On the positive, just like regular ladybugs (ladybirds), they love to eat aphids.

Homemade bread snack.
Skull of a carnivorous Marsupial Mouse I found that had been run over on the back road. The ears helped me identify it at the time.
"Small native carnivorous marsupial, greyish-brown above and paler below. Long pointed head with bulging eyes and four pairs of small sharp incisor teeth. Ears are large, thin and crinkly with a notch in the margin. Tail is the same length as the body or shorter and is sparsely haired. It weighs up 71 grams."

A tongue bitten and held tight rested within the maw of the fox. Her jaw a thing so tight it looked as though it was likely to shatter with the force of its bite. Gwynne leaned against the railing once more, though now she looked nearer a thing to some gargoyle- poised in a defensive stance over those below. The ease in that lean gone. The little half smile- vanished. It looked as though the fox’s attempts at keeping a tongue stilled from wagging would be successful. Though a pulse thrummed hard against her throat with the talk of dragons, of all things, so near. The woman’s breath quickened with the continued force of her restraint.
