An aggressive Trumpeter Swan attempts to bite another in the waters at Potter Marsh.

... about killer whales (orcas) when I saw this massive and powerful skull in the Natural History Museum at Tring. I knew about the bite power of crocodiles and, of course, of that of the celebrated Tyrannosaurus Rex. Size-wise, the teeth of this orca are rather similar to that of Tyrannosaurus and, just a hunch it may be, I fear the crown of the most powerful bite in the history of evolution might be taken away from T-Rex. Not a particularly large specimen as gators go on Horsepen Bayou, but big enough to put a bite on you.
My apple snowwoman has an attitude today (or maybe I do). Her face looks more like a chicken because of a bad nose job and she's tired of everyone commenting on her figure, a good portrait photographer knows not to shoot a woman from the front.
Yes, these are all apples. The tiny one on top I found at Sprouts is an organic crimson gold, middle is a granny smith and the bottom is a honeycrisp. The eyes are black peppercorns, the buttons are cloves, the hair is a star anise, the arms are cinnamon sticks and the nose is a pared down carrot and is about 2 inches long but you can't tell from the angle.
Photo of near the end of the recent eclipse. I was bogused by a giant cloud that jumped in front of the sun just before until just after totality. ARRRG! Well, that's life I guess, so make the best of it. Looking close near the center of the disk you can see a series of sun spots. This was taken from Carbondale, IL. A solar filter was used.

Coming back from an errand, my husband exclaimed that there are dozens of parakeets in our Jacaranda tree. I quickly ran to the house and grabbed my camera.
They were high in the tree, so I went to our second story deck above the garage and took some shots.
This shot shows the parakeets hanging from a branch while one gives a love bite (or that's what it seems to me he's doing.)
