In the lush expanse of Lagos Yaguacaca, I had the fortune to photograph the enigmatic Crane Hawk, Geranospiza caerulescens. Perched stoically amongst the verdant canopy, the hawk's grey plumage and intense red eyes command attention, embodying the raw essence of the predators of the skies. The fine details of its feathers, captured against the soft blur of the Colombian rainforest, highlight the bird's adaptability to its environment – a perfect subject for the art of avian photography.
The image speaks to the bird's solitary nature, with its gaze fixed intently beyond the frame, suggesting a narrative of survival and dominion within this biodiverse landscape. As a photographer, such moments are a delicate dance of patience and readiness, waiting for nature to unveil its stories in its own unpredictable tempo.

One of the evident features of Ospreys 🐦 are their large, usually almost five-foot long, wingspan with distinctive color patterns of brown, black, and white pigmentation throughout their wings and bodies…

Thanks to my friend Scott Helfrich, for pointing me in the right direction. As a result, I managed to captured my first shot of an American Kestrel, preening. It didn't take this long due to lack of trying by any means. In my opinion, these little falcons can be somewhat skittish, coupled with bad timing it just never happened. I seriously thought I would never get a close up of a Kestrel. I was lucky to sneak away for a few hours earlier today, and slowly get myself back into the swing of all things wildlife.

Curiously, unlike many birds 🐦, there are no obvious physiological differences between male and female Ospreys 🐦 … some of the variant characteristics that can be helpful in distinguishing between the genders are the facts that female Ospreys 🐦 are usually larger, up to 20%, and they are likely to have a brown color pattern on their chest that might give the illusion of a necklace…
This Osprey 🐦 is a female one… Do you see the difference? 🤔

"Keep Calm and Pretend You Are at the Beach"... I did when I framed this shot. ~Happy Tuesday!
Today, we spent most of the day photographing the Burrowing Owls of Cape Coral, FL. I have a few favorite shots that I have fallen in love with starting with this one, which happens to be my very favorite of them all. And guess why that is? I managed to do something I intend to do each time I go out to photograph, and that is move in every angle possible to gain a new perspective. From the looks of it, you would never know this Burrowing Owl is right smack in the middle of a residential area filled with houses all around. Doesn't this shot remind of you of the seaside, it did to me when I was framing it.... and that to me is a shot of a Burrowing Owl I don't see every day. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Well, I'm super excited about this Burrowing Owl shot. My hubby, and I took a little trip to a new location we've known about for a long time, but never made the time to go visit only because we're always with our little ones. But, on this day we were alone. As soon as we entered this area we were greeted by this beauty. And I kid you not, I snapped this one shot out of the driver's window, while I was sitting in the passenger side, and looked down to review my exposure to shoot again when the Owl flew off. So, this is my very first image ever of this species, and my only shot too! Lucky!
