This photo was taken last year during my birdingtour in Hungary.

This year no tour,no holidays and no birding or butterflying across the border. I am not even getting out now. We cancelled two trips but I am finding it also nice to be home and take some time to get things done. Like painting and cleaning, gardening and making long telephone calls. I am not working at the moment but I really hope thats just a matter of time. Prepared myself for when I can open my doors again. Its all about safety now, protecting the ones you love and yourself.

Without doubt, the White-capped Tanager is one of the most beautiful and striking Andean birds. This photograph captures the raw essence of the Roadside Hawk, Rupornis magnirostris, in its natural habitat within the Mocagua Comunidad Indígena in Colombia. The hawk, perched with an air of vigilance, is set against a canvas of verdant foliage, characteristic of the Amazonian landscape. The bird's sharp gaze and robust stature are emblematic of its predatory nature, while its plumage blends seamlessly with the environment, showcasing nature's intricate design.

As a photographer, my goal is to bridge the gap between these majestic creatures and the observer, highlighting the subtle yet striking details that define the Roadside Hawk. The photograph strives to not just capture the physical beauty of this raptor, but also to convey a sense of the bird's role in the Amazon's ecosystem. The image serves as a testament to the resilience and adaptability of wildlife, encouraging a deeper respect and understanding of the natural world.

One of the most beautiful hummingbirds in the world. This little bird inhabits tree line & paramo ecosystems in the high mountains (2,700 – 4,100 meters) of Colombia, Ecuador & Peru. As many other hummingbird species living in very cold weather, the Rainbow-bearded Thornbill clings to small flowers as it feeds on nectar and probes for insects as a mechanism to save energy.

The Collared Trogon lives in humid tropical & subtropical forests, including cloud forests, of Central & South America. Often found in pairs, they feed on small berries and invertebrates (caterpillars, beetles, crickets, etc.) plucked while in flight, sometimes hovering briefly, returning to a nearby branch to eat the prey. Males are much more colorful than the more cryptic females, which are brownish. This is a vocal bird that dwells in the subcanopy and thick understory, usually staying away from direct sunlight.
