Moments after take off. The R5 certainly helped with this one! Virtually the last shot of this 12+ hour session.
A fully wild, but remarkably obliging bird - it flew right past at close range. Taken from the same spot on North Uist as the Hen Harrier!

This Tricolored Heron skimmed the surface of the water at Ding Darling NWR, Florida.
Tricolored Herons draw their necks into an S-curve while flying as shown in the picture.
The sun was just beginning to cast a golden light, and this Brown Pelican made several unsuccessful flights and dives into the water. He might have retired for the night on an "empty stomach."
