I had hoped to post a more exciting shot, but this has been a crazy week of being home with a sick kid and playing catch-up at work as a result. I did manage to put Some UD Lip Junkie on, just for you, Bertha!

Foods you like, despise, can't eat (allergies, etc.)
I love: milk chocolate, salted caramel, pear, raspberry, coffee flavored things, macaroni and cheese from a box, Cheetos, cheezy poofs, and cheezits. Peppermint, citrus, ginger, cardamom, honey, maple. All yummy. I like to think I’m a better eater, so we try to eat a “real food” diet, but some days call for processed orange food. I hate, with the power of a thousand suns all things melon. I don’t like cinnamon on its own, but love it with other things (think: Big Red- yuck, Chai- yum). I’m about 80-90% vegetarian and when eating meat, try to use the power of my purse to only buy “happy”, local and/or organically raised animals. I don’t know how to cook without garlic and love cheese. I used to not like goat cheese, but I am very, slowly starting to come around to it. I avoid walnuts because I've starting having a reaction to them, but eat all other legumes and nuts.
Coffee vs. tea? Do you have a favorite kind? Both, but coffee is my jam. I have trouble starting a day without coffee and those that know me well generally ask if I’ve had any coffee before trying to have any important conversations with me prior to noontime. (Relevant story- while in the hospital, the day after having Silas, I started to get pretty ill. The nurses started to get a little worried I may be having issues after a straightforward/complication free birth. After examining me, the nurse says “Have you had any coffee recently?” to which I tell her the hospital coffee was terrible. She sent Aaron to Starbucks straight away for a latte. I can’t believe we didn’t take a picture of me with Silas a day old in one arm and a venti latte in the other.) In terms of tea, I don’t really love black teas unless it’s chai, because it reminds me of being sick as a kid. I like green teas and drink tons of herbal tisanes, loving just about everything BUT chamomile.
Where do you live? (climate, big city/small town, etc.) We moved to Colorado in August and live in the ‘burbs of Denver/the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. We are 20 minutes from the center of Denver, 10 from Golden, 40 from Boulder and about an hour and a half from Breckenridge. It’s a huge change from the 10 years we spent in the DC area, but are totally loving it. I have a HOUSE, which is really weird and a two-car garage. Ha! We can’t walk to the grocery store anymore, but we can be on a bike path to mountain biking (more exciting for my husband than me, honestly) straight out of our driveway.
Crafty pursuits - knit, crochet, spin, sew, quilt, embroider, make friendship bracelets, any of these or others? I’m a knitter. I would like to learn how to crochet better so I can join the annual potholder swap and make some cute animals. I’ve tried a few times, and really all I can do is a chain stitch. I can sew and quilt, but don’t have much time for it these days.
Favorite yarns / fabrics? Any yarn you want to try but haven't yet? Yarn loves- Madtosh, Koigu, Malabrigo. Indie dyers, semi solids, most variegated. Blues, greens, yellows, pink. Really, anything but purple. Not a purple fan.
Hobbies/pursuits/proclivities/passions (other than the aforementioned crafty ones, obvs)
Hmm. These days just trying to keep my head on straight is a part time job. That said- I love to read, trying to get back to the yoga mat, enjoying cooking. I’m not really into makeup as I see it as necessary evil. (Sorry Bertha!). I don’t like the feel of traditional lipstick and always feel like tis ends up everywhere BUT on my mouth. I own about three nail polishes and just don’t feel like obsessing over my nails. I get them done every so often, but that’s about it. I did just get my first Naked Palette (the Basics) and totally get why people love them, and do get Birchbox monthly. Living in CO means I’m using A TON of moisturizer this winter. Parts I didn’t even know could get dry are now itchy.
What do you do in life? (job, career, school, family, etc.)
I work for part of the Department of Interior in Human Resources, my main job is that of Executive Resources these days, which means I’m the HR person for our Bureau’s Executives and all the fun that entails. Mostly, I’m just avoiding getting issued a blackberry, as I seem to have the good fortune of not necessarily loving my chosen career path, and not wanting to be defined by it, but somehow being adept and fairly good at it. I have an awesome husband (Tall Guy) of 4.5 years, a little guy (Si) who is 10 months old and a wackadoodle dog named Annie.
Describe your idea of a perfect day where you have no obligations....no work, no kids, no appointments. What would you do? Wake up without an alarm, go out for a yummy breakfast that involved a well made latte and hashbrowns (not homefries!), wander an art museum, go shopping in that sort of neighborhood that has neat shops (South End in Boston, Baker in Denver, Hampden in Baltimore etc), go for a walk with Aaron, Annie and Silas and get to the ocean to collect seaglass and shells (it didn’t have to practical!)
What makes you happy? Basically everything in my perfect day. And my amazing friends and family that are spread all over the country and world. An adventure with my guys, a good FaceTime chat with friends. A really good meal.
